Nintendo Switch game releases April 2021: New Pokémon Snap and more
If you’re like me, you’re probably deep into Monster Hunter Rise right now. Capcom’s action role-playing game released for the Nintendo Switch at the end of March and we’re absolutely loving it.
But it’s going to be a new month and that means new games coming to Nintendo’s hybrid console. Let’s take a quick look at what’s releasing on Nintendo Switch in April 2021:
- Lost Words: Beyond the Page – April 6
- Star Wars: Republic Commando – April 6
- Island – April 8
- The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV – April 9
- Poison Control – April 13
- SaGa Frontier Remastered – April 15
- Atelier Mysterious Trilogy Deluxe Pack – April 22
- MotoGP 21 – April 22
- Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World – April 22
- R-Type Final 2 – April 29
- New Pokemon Snap – April 30
Obviously, the biggest release here is going to be New Pokémon Snap, a sequel to the beloved Nintendo 64 game originally released in 1999. In New Pokémon Snap, you’ll be visiting the Lental region to assist in the research studies of Professor Mirror and his assistants. You’ll be traveling in an on-rails hovercraft, taking photographs of the Pokémon in their natural environments to help build a compendium (a Photodex). There are over 200 different Pokémon in the game spread across various habitats, and you’ll be rated on each photo you take.

Another game you’ll want to keep your eye on for the Nintendo Switch is Lost Words: Beyond the Page, a narrative adventure from renowned games writer Rhianna Pratchett. We had the chance to review Lost Words, which puts you into the heart and soul of a writer struggling to flesh out her own story while also struggling to cope with her own hardships. You’ll navigate the pages of a young girl’s journal as the words literally come to life.
An enhanced port of Star Wars: Republic Commando, a tactical first-person shooter originally released in 2005, is also coming. In the game, you play as the leader of an elite squad of Republic Commandos sent on a mission to annihilate the enemy.
