Teamfight Tactics: Reckoning (Set 5) is set to launch in April, but there are still a few more weeks left to go in TFT: Fates (currently Set 4.5). The next update, patch 11.7, is slated to release on Wednesday, March 31.

With the season winding down, the Riot isn’t making any drastic changes with champion balancing. Patch 11.7 aims to buff some of the lesser-played 3- and 4-cost carries, like Darius and Aatrox. While you’ll occasionally see a 3-star Darius carry a team to victory, it’s rare. So with patch 11.7, you can look forward to buffs to some of the oft-forgotten about champions.

Dariu Fortune’s Guillotine Damage Falloff upon reset is going from a flat 25% to a 25/20/10%. So at 3-star, he’s going to dish out some serious damage. Irelia’s Bladestorm Disarm Duration will also increase from 4 to 5 seconds at 3-star, while Yuumi Zoomies Heal will recover 90% missing health (up from 75%). Again, these champions were strong at 2-star but there was no real incentive to push them to 3-star. With these improvements, it might be worth it now.

Another champion in line for a buff is Aatrox. The 4-cost Cultist/Vanguard was always meant to be the carry in Vanguard (and even Cultist) comps. But for some reason, he’s always been relegated to the team’s tank. Perhaps the buff 500 Damage buff to his Infernal Chains at 3-star will change that.

Cho’Gath is another 4-cost who has always been the default tank. His 3-star Rupture Damage also got a buff from 1500 to 2000. Sejuani, another tank Vanguard, is also buffed. Her Firecracker damage is increased from 800 to 1600 at 3-star.

Perhaps the most interesting buff is to Shen. His Max Mana Lock duration has been lowered from 8 seconds to 4 seconds, which means he’ll build up Mana halfway through his shield’s duration at 3-stars. That is insane! Shen is already considered a very viable tank, but you never really needed to 3-star him. Again, this will change that.

There are some other buffs coming to Nidalee, Talon and Xayah but these are the main ones, in my opinion. Check out the full patch notes here.

On another note, max rank Vanguard is getting an armor buff. At 8 Vanguard, you’ll now get 1000 Armor, which is up from the previous 800. Vanguard champions are popular early and midgame but usually fall off late. There is the Fable Vanguard composition that’s quite popular and strong, but there was no reason to really ever go for max rank. It will be interesting to see how this buff changes the meta moving forward into the final stretch.
