PGA Tour 2K: Tiger Woods returns to video games with 2K deal
When people think of golf, there is a very good chance that they think of Tiger Woods.
Tiger Woods is often talked about as being the greatest golfer of all time. Everyone has their own opinions on it, but it is hard to argue with his impressive resume. Tiger Woods has 82 PGA Tour wins with 15 of those being at the Majors.
Tiger Woods has been in the news a lot lately, but not for the best reasons. Back in February, he suffered some pretty hefty injuries in a car accident. Luckily, since the car crash, Woods is recovering steadily.
Now, we’ve finally got some good news to report on for Tiger Woods. He has just signed a long-term partnership deal with 2K which will result in him returning to the video game world. 2K also entered into a “definitive agreement” with HB Studios Multimedia Ltd., the developer behind PGA Tour 2K12 and The Golf Club franchises. So it’s quite likely that Tiger Woods will be the new face of those video game franchises.
Tiger Woods has never managed to appear in the PGA Tour 2K franchise, but with the news announced today on his deal, I have no doubt that PGA Tour 2K22 will feature the golf legend. Here’s what Woods had to say about his signing with 2K and HB Studios:
"“I am looking forward to making my return to the video game landscape, and with 2K and HB Studios, I’ve found the right partners to make it happen.” “I’m honored to take part in this opportunity and look forward to sharing my expertise and insights as we build the future of golf video games together”"

Tiger Woods is no stranger to the video game world. He was partnered with EA Sports for 15 years which resulted in one of the most successful sports video game franchises ever in Tiger Woods PGA Tour. But Woods and EA parted ways in 2013 and the publisher/developer turned to Rory McIlroy for the cover of its 2015 game; however, the reboot got less than stellar reviews and EA hasn’t produced a golf game since.
I have a very strong feeling that PGA Tour 2K22 will feature Tiger Woods as the cover athlete because of this major announcement on his deal. It should also be interesting to see how Tiger can help improve the future of the PGA Tour 2K franchise in the long run.
