Monster Hunter Rise is coming to PC, but no word on PlayStation or Xbox
Capcom has revealed that Monster Hunter Rise will also arrive on PC at some point in the future. Speaking to IGN Japan, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed that the company has received “a lot of requests for a PC version” of the game.
And while we don’t have an exact release date, the aim right now is to release it at some point in early 2022. Monster Hunter Rise will make its debut on Nintendo Switch on March 26, so PC gamers will likely be waiting a year or so. That’s just a few months longer than the wait they had for Monster Hunter: World, which took eight months to arrive on PC after its console release.
"“We received a lot of requests for a PC version of Monster Hunter Rise, particularly from overseas players, and so we have decided to develop a version for PC, which we aim to release in early 2022,. This is still under development, so I’d like to share more detailed information when the time is right.”"
While it’s exciting that Monster Hunter Rise — which thus far had been a Nintendo Switch exclusive — will also be coming to PC, any hope that the upcoming action RPG expanding to additional consoles should be tempered. As I pointed out in great length last month, there’s been no indication that Capcom intends to release Monster Hunter Rise on any other gaming consoles beyond the Switch.

It’s certainly not impossible for Monster Hunter Rise to release on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X but it would likely depend on the agreement between Nintendo and Capcom. Surely, it’d be lucrative for Monster Hunter Rise to be on PlayStation and Xbox consoles but, as I’ve already noted before, it wouldn’t be the first time a Monster Hunter game was exclusive to a Nintendo platform.
Monster Hunter Rise more or less feels like an extension of Monster Hunter World. It carries over many of the features introduced in World and expands upon them with a new palamute companion and, perhaps the most intriguing new addition, the wirebug. The wirebug not only aids in traversal across the land but also interacts with each of the weapon types in the game, allowing for new moves and combos.
Monster Hunter Rise releases for Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021 and will come to PC at some point in 2022. We’ll keep you updated on any announcement for the PS5 or Xbox Series X.
