After many great AR adventures, Mojang has decided that it will no longer offer their mobile game Minecraft Earth, as it is closing in June 2021.

I am sure many of you have heard of the video game phenomenon that is Minecraft. However, you may or may not have heard of one of Mojang’s spin-off games that is called Minecraft Earth. Minecraft Earth wanted to get gamers on the move in an effort to try their take on an AR video game. Minecraft Earth sort of had the same feel and concept as Pokémon GO except for the fact that you were building structures instead of collecting creatures. Mojang created Minecraft Earth in an effort to bring the game to real life and explore the Minecraft world in the real world.

The main reason why Mojang is making this decision is the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic is hindering some key components of the game. As a result, once Minecraft Earth is shut down they will put all their efforts into the main game Minecraft so that all focus can be on their biggest success.

Minecraft Earth is scheduled to say its final goodbye on June 30, 2021. What that means is that you will no longer be able to download the game or play the game on any of its servers. The most recent and final update of the game occurred a few days ago. The final update removes all real-money transactions, grants some free character items, reduces ruby costs, and reduces the time and resources needed for crafting items.

Finally, when July 1, 2021, comes around, all Minecraft Earth player data will be permanently deleted. However, do not be alarmed because if you have any additional ruby balances leftover in the game, they will be converted to Minecoins.

Minecoins allow you to purchase add-ons in the main Minecraft game which is a huge bonus as well. That means you do not have to worry about your rubies going to waste. Additionally, if you made any sort of purchase at any point in Minecraft Earth, you will get a free copy of the Bedrock version of Minecraft.

While Minecraft Earth is enjoying the final days of the span of the game, gamers will have tons of opportunities to get their Minecraft fix in when they play the main Minecraft title. If you still want to play the game you still have over five more months to do so. Just do not get too comfortable because all of your data in the game will be gone come July 1st.
