Fallout: The Frontier, a community-driven unofficial expansion for Fallout: New Vegas makes its highly anticipated release on January 15.

Despite being over 10. years old, Fallout: New Vegas remains one of the most beloved games in the franchise. As the final game in the franchise to be developed by Obsidian Entertainment, New Vegas has an overwhelmingly positive response by fans on Steam.

Bethesda’s Fallout 4 was mostly well-received but Fallout 76 launched was a complete disaster (although it is getting better). Still, neither compare to Fallout: New Vegas which explains why it remains a popular go-to for fans of the post-apocalyptic role-playing franchise.

And soon, there will be another reason to revisit Mojave Wasteland. Fallout: The Frontier, a community mod that serves as an unofficial expansion for the game, is coming January 15, 2021.

The highly anticipated mod is massive in scope with three major questlines following the NCR, the Legion and the Crusaders of Steel. and over fifty side quests. The Frontier will take players to the snowy northwest of Portland, Oregon, which will be an open-world experience similar in size to the DC wasteland and filled with real landmarks and locations. Players will also encounter new enemy types and over 150 new weapons and armors. The mod also features a driving system that is said to be “the most complex and realistic driving system ever developed for a Fallout title.”

Fallout: The Frontier is a fully-voiced expansion with over 24,000 lines of dialogue that was voiced with the help of Creators Network and Casting Call Club. Even a few celebrity guests participated!

This is honestly the most ambitious project I’ve seen for Fallout: New Vegas and if you’re a fan of the game, it’s probably something you’ll want to check out. It does require the base game and four official DLCs and you should be cautious about what mods you run alongside it.

Thankfully, Steam is hosting a huge sale on the game. You can get Fallout: New Vegas and its DLC all for just $9.99.
