Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 is officially here. Season 1 includes a new map, new weapons, and so much new and exciting features.

Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 just released on December 16, 2020 and gamers are already diving into the all-new Battle Pass along with all the other new features. Yes, just like all the other previous “Seasons” of Warzone there is a Battle Pass. The game would not be complete without the usual 100 tier Battle Pass. Throughout the course of the Battle Pass, you will earn rewards just like how you would previously. There will be new vehicle skins, operatives, operative skins, watches, XP boosts, weapon skins, and so much more. There is really nothing out of the ordinary here except the fact that there are brand new items to unlock for your gameplay.

Perhaps the biggest part of the brand new season is the addition of an all-new map called Rebirth Island. Rebirth Island is Call of Duty: Warzone’s first new map that has ever been added to the game. Rebirth Island is a smaller version of the traditional Warzone experience that the Verdansk map grants you. This new map allows only 40 players to join and acts similar to a mini Battle Royale style game mode.

The new mode where you can experience this new map is called Rebirth Island: Resurgence. The interesting about Rebirth Island: Resurgence is that there is no Gulag available in this game mode. Instead, if you get killed you will have to wait 30 seconds before you can spawn again. There are unlimited respawns up until you reach the final circle or until the game is officially over.

Another interesting aspect of this new mode is that when you get a kill, it will make it extremely clear where the other teammates are of the one you killed. This makes hiding very hard and more of heavy combat.

If you still plan on playing the original Battle Royale game mode that Call of Duty: Warzone has to offer that is still available to you as well, but with a small twist. The Gulag is not the same Gulag that everyone knew or loved (maybe not everyone loved it). Instead, the new Gulag puts you in the center of Nuketown with both houses barricaded off to prevent you from going inside of them or into the backyard. This makes it where the main focus of the battle is centered around the center of the map. It is an interesting twist and is a nice little feature that was added to the game. After all the current Gulag was getting kind of old and tiresome. While I do expect that the old Gulag will return at some point in time, this is a nice little change of pace.

Some other things added for Season one is 31 weapons from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, 3 new operatives, an attack helicopter, and bunches of challenges for you to try and complete. There were also some patch notes that fixed some common bugs to go along with the updates as well. As you can tell Season 1 has already kicked off with a bang. There is going to be plenty for everyone to do and tons of secrets to uncover and explore. If you haven’t gotten the chance to play this new update, go boot up the console or PC that you play on and get ready to dive right into the Warzone!
