If you’re unhappy with how Cyberpunk 2077 is playing on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, here’s how to request a refund.

Cyberpunk 2077 was one of this year’s most anticipated games. But its launch has been marred by a plethora of bugs, glitches, frame rate issues and other issues causing the game to crash randomly.

Even after numerous patches, Cyberpunk 2077 is a less than optimal experience — especially on standard PS4 and Xbox One consoles. While developer CD Projekt Red is working on patches to fix the many issues, who knows how long it will take. And who knows if it will ever truly run well on these older consoles.

CD Projekt Red is hoping fans will give them a chance to right the wrongs but if you’re unhappy with how the game is playing or regretting your day one purchase o Cyberpunk 2077 and don’t want to wait for updates, you can opt to refund your copy. Of course, doing so depends on the version you purchased and where you purchased from. Here’s how you can get a refund for Cyberpunk 2077.

How to request a refund for Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S

If you purchased Cyberpunk 2077 digitally for Xbox, you’ll want to visit Microsoft’s support page.  Here’s what Microsoft says about refund eligibility:

"All sales of Digital Game Products are considered final, but we understand there may be extenuating circumstances. When you request a refund for these products, and depending on the purchase or content type in determining refund eligibility, we consider a variety of factors like time since date of purchase, time since release, and use of the product."

It sounds like you will be able to get a refund for Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox, but Microsoft does note digital purchases are not eligible for a refund after 14 days. Once you sign in to your account on the Xbox support page, you should see a list of recent purchases. If you don’t see Cyberpunk 2077, you can manually fill out a refund request form using your order number.

It’s worth noting that Cyberpunk 2077 does look and play better on Xbox Series X than on the Xbox One, but there is a specific next-gen version planned for a future date. If you’re truly dissatisfied with your purchase, it might be worth waiting until the true next-gen version arrives. There doesn’t appear to be a difference in the refund process between playing the game on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.

If you purchased a physical copy of Cyberpunk 2077 for Xbox One, the refund process will depend on the retailer’s return policy; however, CD Projekt Red is offering assistance and will “do our best to help you” if you’re running into any issues.  Those seeking assistance have until December 21, 2020, to email them at helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com.
