Best Buy to have more Xbox Series X, PS5 in stock Dec. 15

Check Best Buy tomorrow for the chance to buy an Xbox Series X and PS5 just before the holidays. Here are the details for the next stock shipment.

The holidays are rapidly approaching and time is running out to buy an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 before Christmas. Both next-gen consoles have been sold out everywhere since they launched in November and when retailers do get a new shipment in stock, they pretty much sell out in seconds. Well, you’ll have at least one more chance to snag an Xbox Series X or PS5 this week.

Best Buy announced it will have a new shipment of Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles in stock tomorrow, December 15. They will be available “sometime after 8 a.m. Central Time.” and only be sold online, so don’t bother showing up at your local brick-and-mortar store. Unfortunately, they didn’t offer any more specifics so you’ll have to check back tomorrow and hope it’s the right time.

Best Buy also didn’t specify which model PlayStation 5 will be sold, the standard $499 version with a disc drive or the $399 Digital Edition without a disc drive.

The consoles will also only be available to purchase online only to avoid big crowds from camping out with the global pandemic. If you’re lucky enough to buy an Xbox Series X or PS5, you’ll be able to pick it up via curbside pickup to limit contact.

All four next-gen consoles — the Xbox Series X|S and both PS5 models — have been difficult to find since they became available for pre-order. The holiday shopping rush also didn’t help, nor do the number of scalpers looking to sell them for exorbitant prices on the secondhand market.

Apparently, Microsoft expects Xbox Series X|S shortages to last into 2021 and the same will likely be true for the PlayStation 5. My recommendation is to just remain patient. I know it sucks not being able to buy one for the holidays, but it’s not worth paying some scalper double the price.
