A developer discussion post from MiHoYo reveals some very exciting features and changes coming to Genshin Impact with the Version 1.2 update.

We don’t know exactly when Version 1.2 for Genshin Impact will go live but we do know it packs some pretty exciting features. A MiHoYo developer discussion reveals numerous quality of life additions that will continue to improve the game, which was one of 2020’s surprise hits.

Among the most requested features is a private chat function. Once you unlock the friend system, you’ll be able to chat with friends from the Friends screen or via a shortcut button. You’ll also be able to send messages to friends who are offline and they’ll receive them the next time they log in.

Speaking of friends, if you’ve got a crowded list and can’t remember who is who, Version 1.2 will allow you to select a friend’s avatar and add a name for them in a note that will appear in your friends list and chats. And, only you will see the name you give them.

Some other features and additions coming with Version 1.2 are:

  • The ability to choose to repeat a Domain challenge from inside the Domain
  • Improved Domain and Ley Line Outcrop rewards system so that they are added straight to your inventory (you won’t have to collect them)
  • Auto-play option for dialog
  • A “Travel Log” section will be added in the Archive that shows all dialog (text and audio) from previously completed Archon Quests and Story Quests
  • Ability to leave Co-Op Domains at any time without interrupting the battle for other Travelers

One feature mentioned, though not specified if it will come in Version 1.2 is Custom Pins. This is essentially a trackable pin that you can place on your map that will guide you to a location. When you choose to “Navigate” to a Custom Pin — of which only one can be tracked at a time — you’ll be guided to that location, even when you close the map. Basically, you won’t have to keep repeatedly opening your map to make sure you’re headed in the right direction.

Lastly, as one final addition that I’m sure all of you will love. You’ll be rewarded with 1 Acquaint Fate each time you ascend a character at level 20, 50 and 70. This will apply retroactively for previous characters you’ve ascended already.
