The first sneak peek for the Clash of Clans December/Winter 2020 update was shared this week. So when can we expect the actual update?

Earlier this week, Supercell gave us our first sneak peek into the upcoming Winter update for Clash of Clans. We pretty much expected an update to arrive in December since that’s when the previous two have come.

Supercell didn’t say exactly when the update will drop, only adding that they’ll begin sharing more details (ie. sneak peeks) in the coming weeks. This would indicate that the update is on track for a mid-December release, which is kind of in line with past years.

For comparison, the December 2018 update released on December 10, the second Monday of the month. The December 2019 update came on December 9, which again was the second Monday of the month.

Assuming Supercell follows tradition and releases it on the second Monday of this December, that would put the update arriving on December 14. Now, that does seem a little late in the month given the previous years, but that’s because November 30 falls on a Monday, so December starts on a Tuesday.

If I had to guess, I would expect the sneak peeks to begin that first week of December leading to the update’s release between December 7-11. Again, this is only a guess based on previous years.

As for what we can expect with the update, so far Supercell’s only sneak peek revolved around some very exciting changes for Super Troops. The first is the reduction in boost duration from 7 days down to 3 days, along with a cost reduction from 50,000 Dark Elixir to 25,000 Dark Elixir. Instead of paying Dark Elixir, you can use the new Super Potion Magic Item (available from Clan Games) to boost a troop for three days. You’ll also be able to boost up to two Super Troops at a time.

That’s all we know for certain is coming in the December, but I think we can expect the usual balance changes, perhaps some new building and troop levels and almost certainly some new Super Troops. October’s Autumn update introduced the Super Minion and Super Valkyrie.
