Madden 21: DeAndre Hopkins earns 99 overall rating after great TD catch
DeAndre Hopkins earned his way into the Madden 21 ’99 Club’ after making a spectacular touchdown grab as time expired this past Sunday afternoon.
If you caught a glimpse of the ending of the Buffalo Bills and the Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday, you know that the game ended in a very unlikely way. If you weren’t able to catch the end of the game, chances are you heard about it in the sports news the very next day.
Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals were down 30-26 with only 11 seconds left at the Bills 43-yard line. The Cardinals had no time outs left and needed a touchdown if they wanted to win the game. With only 11 seconds left, no timeouts, and 43 yards to go, it was clear that the only possible shot at winning the game was to throw a Hail Mary to the end zone and hope that one of his receivers is able to make the catch and win the game.
In a situation where there seemed to be very little hope that the Arizona Cardinals would win the game, the unthinkable happened. Kyler Murray decided to throw the Hail Mary pass to the end zone as time was about to expire and DeAndre Hopkins ended up making an unbelievable catch to put the Cardinals on top and win 32-30. Very rarely do you see Hail Mary pass attempts work, especially late in the game. It was almost something that you would have seen out of the Madden 21 video game.
If you haven’t gotten the chance to see it yet, you can watch it again here.

Before the Hail Mary catch by DeAndre Hopkins, he was already an amazing 98 overall wide receiver. After the next Madden 21 ratings update was released, Hopkins officially made his way into the 99 overall club. He is officially the seventh member of the prestigious club which now consists of Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Donald, Christian McCaffrey, Stephon Gilmore, Michael Thomas, Russell Wilson, and the newly added DeAndre Hopkins.
If you are part of the 99 Club, you also receive a chain with the number 99 on it. Getting into this club is no easy task and it will be interesting to see if any other members are granted access to the Madden 21 club this year. With still roughly 6 weeks left in the NFL regular season, there is still plenty of time for others to make their mark on what has already been a very entertaining season.
