Best Buy Black Friday promises limited PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles online only
The PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X|S will be available at Best Buy this Black Friday, online only and in limited quantities.
If you missed out on the initial wave of pre-orders for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, it looks like you’ll have another chance this Black Friday. As retailers start to push out their online advertisements for their Black Friday sales, Best Buy is promising to have a limited number of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles in stock on the big shopping day.
This year will be a little different than in the past, however, with the global pandemic curbing retailer behavior. Rather than opening on Thanksgiving as has become a recent tradition, Best Buy will be hosting its Black Friday sales in stages, starting on Sunday, November 22. While Best Buy stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, the retailer is hosting an online-only event on Thursday, November 26. Then, on Friday, November 28, the online Cyber Deals will kick-off.
It looks like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles will be available in limited quantities starting on November 22. It’s unclear if Best Buy will release their whole inventory at once or if they will make them available in batches as to allow for different time windows. We also don’t know how many actual consoles Best Buy will actually have in stock, to begin with.
In other words, expect a mad rush and the same Black Friday chaos, only online. I can’t imagine this process will be any less maddening than when the PlayStation 5 became available for pre-order.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will only be available online to avoid large crowd gatherings amidst the pandemic; however, Best Buy will be opening its physical stores on Friday, November 27, starting at 5:00 a.m. local time, offering deals on games and other gaming peripherals and accessories.
Because this is a new console generation, don’t expect any actual sales to be offered. They’ll be sold for their full price, which for the Xbox Seris X is $499.99; Xbox Series X is $299.99; and PlayStation 5 with Disc Drive is $499.99. Interestingly, there’s no mention of the PS5 Digital console, which is slightly less expensive at $399.99.

To also encourage social distancing and less physical contact, Best Buy will offer curbside or store pickup, alternative order pickup locations, same-day delivery and free next-day delivery.
