Call of Duty: Warzone’s Haunting of Verdansk hopefully sets a trend
Call of Duty is set to release their very first Halloween inspired event for Warzone. The Haunting of Verdansk will hopefully spark a video game trend going forward.
Very interesting news has been released over the past 24 hours. Activision has announced The Haunting of Verdansk for Call of Duty.
The trailer highlights some pretty unique things in regard to what is to come in the first ever major Halloween-inspired Warzone event. During the trailer you are able to witness two very popular horror icons make their way into the video game. Leatherface and Billy from the Saw franchise are both about to bring terror to Verdansk.
I don’t really think that we see video games admire holidays as much as they should. Not only are holiday events a big marketing tool for video games, but they also make video games more enjoyable for the community. We have seen video games do Halloween, 4th of July, and even Christmas events before, but the Haunting of Verdansk just has a different feel to it.
The Haunting of Verdansk event for Warzone brings a very different feel to the Call of Duty community. The fact that they are bringing two horror icons into the game makes it that much more cool. I have seen different Halloween events for various different video games that just do things more on the simpler side. For Example, some video game Halloween events include things with ghosts, skulls, pumpkin heads, pumpkins, witches, etc. When it comes to Halloween, those things tend to be the basics that video games lean towards. Call of Duty is doing something that is more on the rarer side of things to see.
Here are some of the things that you can most likely expect to see in the Haunting of Verdansk event:
- Saw and Texas Chainsaw Massacre Bundles
- A Night version of Verdansk
- A Zombie Royale game mode
- Zombies making appearances in Battle Royale
- Trick or Treat Supply Boxes
A game like Warzone that doesn’t really have any plans on there being a sequel needs to be kept fresh and that is exactly what Activision is planning on doing with this event. Being able to play Warzone at night is one thing, but to also play it while playing as some of your favorite horror icons is something that Call of Duty fans won’t be able to have enough of.

On top of adding Saw and Texas Chainsaw Massacre bundles into the game, Call of Duty also plans on integrating zombies as part of the event as well. Zombies has been one of the most successful game modes that the Call of Duty franchise has ever seen. Adding Zombies to Warzone as part of their Halloween event would almost feel like the game was missing something if they left it out. The Haunting of Verdansk event is schedules to start on October 20, 2020 at 1pm EST/12pm CT and last all the way until 1pm EST/12pm CT on November 3, 2020.
There are also said to be “Trick or Treat” Supply Boxes added into the game for a limited time that upon opening, could reward players with rewards like the “Return to Dust” assault rifle blueprint or “The Cleaver” legendary melee blueprint. Some other things that players might receive are holographic watches, charms, stickers, sprays, calling cards, and emblems. The boxes might also include a more sinister trick, although Activision didn’t detail what this could mean. One can only assume that the Trick wouldn’t be on the nicer side of things.
While we don’t know all the details revolving around the Haunting of Verdansk Warzone Halloween event, what I do know is that the event should be a major hit. Hopefully other video game companies see what Activision has done and try to get more Halloween icons into their own games. Horror Icons as the likes of Jason, Freddy Kruger, Leatherface, Jigsaw, Michael Myers, and Ghost Face are people that I would like to see more of in Halloween events going forward in various video games. I hope that by Activision including Billy and Leatherface into their game that other video games will try and follow trend.
