Three new characters join the fray and next-gen plans are laid out for Mortal Kombat 11.

The Twitter mobs advocating for Mileena and Rain to be in MK11 can finally lay their “Mileena/Rain when?” campaigns to rest. Ed Boon can finally catch a break; all is well for the foreseeable future for Mortal Kombat 11.

In a trailer that dropped earlier this morning, to what felt more like Netherrealm Studios’ time to really appease fans, we learned that Mileena and Rain are coming to Mortal Kombat 11, along with John Rambo (and he’s actually voiced by Sylvester Stallone).

Not only did we learn about three (technically) new characters coming to the game, but we received some much-anticipated news about MK11’s place for next-gen consoles. Owners of the game on current generation consoles can get a free upgrade for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series S|X. These upgrades include visual enhancements, 4k dynamic resolution, and “significantly reduced load times.”

The trailer also says there will be cross-play and cross-gen. As of now, there is crossplay, but it has been in beta and is limited to casual modes only. Check more here. Assuming it’s going into the next generation of consoles, that will come to more online modes but will stay limited to just the Playstation 4 and 5 consoles as well as the Xbox One and Series X|S consoles.

Pre-orders aren’t up until next week, but details have been announced. This is Kombat Pack 2 which includes Rain, Mileena, and Rambo. This should be for players who have bought all the other major content bundles. There is also the definitive version for collectors or people who haven’t picked the game up yet. Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate will come with the base game, Kombat Packs 1 and 2, and the Aftermath expansion.

Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate and Kombat Pack 2 are coming out on November 17, 2020, on the Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series S|X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
