The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta for PlayStation 4 runs this weekend.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta kicks off today. This weekend’s beta, the first of two planned, is only available on PlayStation 4 and is split up into two start times: Early Access and open beta.

The Early Access beta begins on Thursday, October 8 and is available only for those who have pre-ordered Black Ops Cold War digitally on PlayStation 4 or Playstation 5. The Early Access period runs for two days from Thursday, October 8 – Thursday, October 9.

On Saturday, October 10, the beta expands and opens up to the entire PlayStation community. Anybody who owns a PlayStation 4 is free to download and play the Black Ops Cold War Open Peta as long as you have an internet connection. The Open Beta is period is from Saturday, October 10 – Monday, October 12.

It’s that simple. Either pre-order the game to play the beta on Thursday or Friday or simply wait until Saturday for the Open Beta to begin.

Unfortunately, if you’re playing on Xbox or PC, you’ll have to wait a little while longer. The second beta weekend begins on Thursday, October 15. If you pre-ordered the game digitally on Xbox One, Xbox Series X or PC via Battle.net. you can play the beta on October 15-16.

If not, simply wait for the Open Beta to begin on Saturday, October 17. It runs for the entire weekend, ending on Monday, October 19.

For the PlayStation 4 community, you’ll have access to the entire second beta weekend regardless of whether or not you pre-ordered the game.

As for what’s included, the beta will feature various 6v6 game modes, as well as the new 12v12 Combined Arms mode and the new 40-player Fireteam: Dirty Bomb mode, all set across maps in distinct global locations during the Cold War. There will also be a Beta-specific leveling system to rank up and unlock new loadout items. If you reach level 10 within the Beta, you’ll receive an SMG Weapon Blueprint for Black Ops Cold War when it launches.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set for release on November 13 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and PC.
