Release date and content revealed for the upcoming remaster of Criterion’s critically acclaimed arcade racer, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.

While it’s no surprise that we’ll be getting a new Need for Speed some ways down the line for next-gen consoles, Criterion and Stellar Entertainment teamed up to bring back the 2010 racing game, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered.

Stellar Entertainment might be familiar to some as they are the same folks who helped make Burnout Paradise Remastered become a thing. So why not help make another remastered racing game of a beloved franchise and then some?

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is actually coming a lot sooner than expected, despite the many leaks surrounding it from as early as July. With it comes updated visuals, performance updates depending on your hardware, all the DLC that was released in the game, and cross play. There is also a new photo mode and gallery, additional car customizations including wraps and paint jobs, new achievements, and a handful of quality of life updates.

To keep players connected between all platforms too, the Autolog system is making its return. Brag about your victories in the various events in the game through this online system. Think of it as a social network of sorts where you can see your friends’ best course times and the vehicles they used to complete these events. So even if you aren’t playing at the same time, there becomes a multiplayer aspect to the game, especially now with all platforms being connected.

On the console side of things: standard PS4, Xbox One, and Switch consoles will run the game at 1080p/30 FPS (720p/30 FPS on handheld mode for Switch). For PS4 Pro and Xbox One X models, NFS: Hot Pursuit Remastered can be rendered at 4k/30 FPS or 1080p/60 FPS.

While many Need for Speed players have either gotten burned out from NFS Heat or have found other games to scratch that high-speed racing itch, this remaster will surely give us the fix we’re looking for. It’s no Most Wanted from 2005 or Underground, but this is certainly up there for eventual remasters and a welcomed one to say the very least.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 6, and for Nintendo Switch on November 13.
