Marvel’s Avengers: Here’s when you can start playing
Marvel’s Avengers assembles on September 4 but special editions allow early access.
The official release date for Marvel’s Avengers isn’t until September 4, but if you pre-ordered one of the game’s special editions, you can begin playing as early as tomorrow.
While the $59.99 Standard Edition releases on September 4, the Exclusive Digital Edition ($69.99), Deluxe Edition ($79.99) and Earth’s Mightiest Edition ($199.99) all allow 72-hours early access, meaning you can start playing as early as tomorrow, September 1. It’s worth mentioning that the Xbox One only offers the Deluxe Edition and Earth’s Mightiest Edition while Steam only has the Deluxe Edition; but, in either case, you still get the 72-hour head start.
As for when the servers for Marvel’s Avengers will unlock, it depends on your region and what version of the game you have as well as what platform.
The Exclusive Digital Edition, Deluxe Edition and Earth’s Mightiest Edition will unlock at the following times:
- PC (Steam): September 1, worldwide at 9:00 a.m. PT, 12:00 p.m. ET
- PS4: September 1, midnight local time
- Xbox One: September 1, midnight local time
- Stadia: September 1, worldwide at 9:00 a.m. PT, 12:00 p.m. ET
For those of you with the standard edition, the schedule is as follows:
- PC (Steam): September 4, worldwide at 9:00 a.m. PT, 12:00 p.m. ET
- PS4: September 4, midnight local time
- Xbox One: September 4, midnight local time
- Stadia: September 4, worldwide 9:00 a.m. PT, 12:00 p.m. ET

Beyond early access, the various special editions come with special in-game cosmetic items. Even pre-ordering the standard edition comes with bonus content such as the Marvel Legacy Outfit Pack, Marvel Legacy Nameplate, and Ms. Marvel “Talk to the Hand” Emote.
The Deluxe Edition comes with the Obsidian Outfit Pack and Obsidian Nameplate Pack. The Earth’s Mightiest Edition includes all the digital bonuses plus some physical goodies as well including a full 12″ statue of Captain America, Hulk Bobblehead, Kamala Khan’s Honorary Avenger Pin, commemorative Avengers group photo and more.
Marvel’s Avengers is easily one of the most anticipated games of the year. The game will be well-supported beyond launch with plenty of DLC — all of which will be free. The game will feature a battle pass system that was detailed over the weekend but as we wrote, it’s an incredibly fair system.
