Spacebase Startopia release date set for October, beta available now
Spacebase Startopia, a construction management simulation set in the wide reaches of space, is set to release this October.
Publisher Kalypso Media has announced that Spacebase Startopia, an upcoming construction management sim from in-house developer Realmforge Studios will release this year on October 23.
The release date announcement also saw the launch of the closed beta and a new trailer as well. The trailer showcased some gameplay along with seven questions answered by Realmforge Studios game designer Florian.
The Spacebase Startopia beta was unlocked earlier this week for pre-purchase customers on the Kalypso Store, along with a special pre-purchase discount. The game is available in two versions, a standard edition consisting of the base game and beta access, and an Expanded Edition which adds in-game items and a digital soundtrack into the mix for the true donut-shaped-space-station aficionado.
The beta is available English and German and includes three tutorial maps, two single-player missions and an early version of skirmish mode with randomized parameters, 15 rooms and three tech tree levels. More content is slated to be added as part of regular updates leading up to the launch of the full game.

Spacebase Startopia is a construction managemement simulation where you restore and manage a space station in the shape of a doughnut. The goal is to turn it into a desirable station for the various alien species that populate the galaxies, gaining energy as they visit your station. You’ll have to take care of their needs, entertainment and environment; however, the needs of some alien species may contract those of another, so some tough decisions will have to be made.
There are three different game modes to play, including competitive and cooperative multiplayer with up to four players. There are also 10 fully voiced single-player missions as part of the campaign, as well as a fully configurable sandbox mode.
Spacebase Startopia is set to launch on Windows PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the Nintendo Switch version to follow in 2021. It looks like a constant stream of challenging objectives await.
