Riot Games announced a slew of mid-set updates for Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies (TFT), including a Ranked reset, new rewards and more.

Riot Games is extending the length of Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies and releasing a mid-set update some time around “early June.” Rather than completely wiping the slate clean and starting from scratch with a whole new set of champions, mechanics and meta to learn, Riot will instead split the current set of TFT into what is essentially two halves.

The first half, which we’re currently in, will continue for a few more weeks. Then with patch 10.12, which is scheduled for early June (June 10, according to the calendar), will come the mid-set update. This will add a bunch of new champions and a few new traits, while also removing some of the current ones as well. We’re also getting a new Galaxies Pass and a soft reset to Ranked standings as well as the long-awaited Ranked rewards from the first two sets (finally!).

Ranked Reset

Although the second part of TFT: Galaxies won’t completely change the current game we all know, there are enough changes to the roster being made that “are large enough to show a whole new mastery.” Because of this, Riot thinks it best to have a Ranked reset, although one that will be at a softer rate than you’d see in between complete set refreshes.

Most players will start the next ranked set one tier below where they ended the previous set. Gold 3 players can expect to start at Silver 3, for example, while all Master+ players will go down to Diamond 4. The first act of TFT: Galaxies will end when the servers go down for patch 10.12 and ranked will pick back up immediately when the servers return.

In the grand scheme of things, this doesn’t mean much because your ranked standing would’ve reset with a completely new set anyway. If anything, the soft reset plus extended set length means you now have a little longer to push to reach that next ranked tier.  And you’ll definitely want to push for at least Gold because there are some specific rewards associated with it.

Ranked Rewards

Finally, Riot has figured out what to do with rewards from the first two sets of Teamfight Tactics. Those who placed Gold or higher in the launch set and Rise of elements will get Victorious Little Legends with patch 10.12. Future rewards will include an emote based on your rank each act. If you get Gold or higher in both Galaxies acts, you’ll receive the Galaxies Victorious Little Legends at the end of the set.

Galaxies Pass II

I don’t know about you, but I’ve played so much of Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies that I’ve already completed my Galaxies Pass. Apparently, the paid pass has been so popular that a new one will be introduced for the second act, complete with exclusive arenas, emotes, booms and little legends. It will remain priced at 1295 RP and will be available “soon after” the launch of patch 10.12.

Nothing majorly new will be introduced with Galaxies Pass II in terms of cosmetic categories but we are getting three new species of Little Legends. Here’s a sneak peek:

My thoughts

I absolutely love this idea! I’ve been a huge fan of Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies and I’m not ready to say goodbye to this set just yet. I only feel like I’ve just started to get a mastering of this current set yet it still feels like each game is unique and fresh and always something different. There’s obviously still room for balancing and improvement but overall, I think this is the best and most balanced set we’ve had in Teamfight Tactics.
