Clash of Clans Spring 2020 update: New troop and building levels
With the Spring 2020 update for Clash of Clans right around the corner, Supercell has previewed some new troop and building levels coming soon.
The players have spoken and after voting on what should be the next sneak peek for the Clash of Clans Spring 2020 update, Supercell as revealed new upgrade levels. The next update, which figures to be released at the end of this month or early April, will introduce new upgrade levels for buildings, troops, defense and spells across Town Hall 11 through Town Hall 13.
At Town Hall 11, the Gold Mine, Elixir Collector and Dark Elixir Drill will each be available to upgrade. The Gold Mine and Elixir Collector will upgrade to level 14, resulting in 5,600/hour production and a capacity of 300,000. The Dark Elixir Drill will upgrade to level 8 and will produce 140/hour with a 3,000 capacity. The update will also allow you to build the third Dark Elixir Drill at Town Hall 9, making it available sooner (previously TH10).
As I’ve mentioned numerous times in the past, recent updates to Clash of Clans have seemingly been aimed at easing the grind. Adding these new levels will help players farm resources more quickly to upgrade existing structures and troops. It’s less sitting around waiting which should open up more active gameplay options.
The Goblin, Barbarian, Minion and Valkyrie are each getting new levels along with the Archer Tower, Mortar and Bomb Tower defenses. At Town Hall 12, you can upgrade the Goblin to level 8 (10.5M gold, 12 day wait) and Barbarian to level 9 (11M gold, 12 day wait). Town Hall 13 will allow upgrades for the following:
- Level 9 Minion (250K gold, 15D 12H wait)
- Level 8 Valkyrie (260K gold, 16D wait)
- Level 18 Archer Tower (14M gold, 15D wait)
- Level 13 Mortar (14.5M gold, 16D wait)
- Level 13 Bomb Tower (15M gold, 16D wait)
- Level 13 Poison (260K gold, 15D 12H wait)

The general reaction to these additions was pretty lukewarm over on the forums. It feels like Supercell added new levels just for the sake of adding them, without any real significant impact on gameplay.
The only thing that really caught players’ attention in the preview was the ability to upgrade an additional 50x Wall segments to level 14 at Town Hall 13. Even then, the response was that 50 segments was not enough. Many wanted to see 100.
Today’s reveal was pretty underwhelming. Hopefully the quality of life changes prove to be more exciting. Supercell has also yet to reveal if the Spring update will add any new units to Clash of Clans.
