PS Plus for March 2020: Shadow of the Colossus and Sonic Forces
Sony is busting out a big one for March’s PS Plus lineup. Literally. Shadow of the Colossus will be one of next month’s free games.
Normally, today would mark the end of February and we’d be one day closer to getting March’s PS Plus games. But 2020 is a leap year, which means we have one more day — 24 hours longer of a wait than usual before the PlayStation Plus games become available. It’s painful too, because March’s lineup is actually really good.
Headlining the lineup is Shadow of the Colossus, one of the all-time greatest PlayStation games. Developed by SCE Japan Studio and Team Ico, Shadow of the Colossus released on PlayStation 2 all the way back in 2005. A remastered version was released for the PS3 as part of The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection in 2011. A remake then came for the PlayStation 4 in 2018.

So there has been ample opportunity for PlayStation owners to play this magnificent game. But if for some reason the idea of exploring a mythical land and taking down gigantic beasts has never appealed to you enough to spend money on the game, well, you’ll soon be able to play it for free with your PS Plus subscription.
Shadow of the Colossus is an action-adventure that mixes puzzle elements into the gameplay when combating these ancient behemoths. Armed with just a sword and a bow, each Colossus presents a unique challenge that feels amazing when you finally take it down.
The second free game for March is Sonic Forces, released in 2017 in commemoration of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise’s 25th anniversary. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that it’s coming to PlayStation Plus on the heels of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie being out in theaters.
Sonic Forces features three gameplay modes. There’s a “Classic” side-scrolling mode reminiscent of the original Sega Genesis games, a “Modern” 3D gameplay similar to Sonic Unleashed, and a mode featuring your custom character, the “Avatar.”
Both Shadow of the Colossus and Sonic Forces will be made available for PS Plus members starting on Tuesday, March 3. You have until then to download February’s offerings, which are BioShock: The Collection, The Sims 4 and Firewall Zero Hour.
