Resident Evil 3 Remake preview: Capcom looks to deliver another hit
With the Resident Evil 3 remake just a few weeks away, we take a look at some of what will make this updated version worth paying for.
The Resident Evil 3 remake isn’t too far off, with a release date of April 3, 2020. As you may have expected by its title, the original and the updated version will share plenty of similarities. After all, it is a remake. But like its predecessor, the Resident Evil 2 remake, it will feature some new content.
As with any video game remake, there has to be a reason for the customer to pick it up versus continuing to play the original instead. One way to do such is with a new multiplayer mode called Resident Evil Resistance. When it was announced months ago, RE3 producers Peter Fabiano and Masachicka Kawata sat down to discuss its key features with Kawata stating, “it’s an online multiplayer game where we had a closed beta and got positive feedback.”
Fabiano chimed in as well, stating, “it’s an asymmetrical battle between 4 survivors and 1 mastermind. The survivors must struggle through the obstacles laid down by the mastermind and attempt to escape.”

In terms of graphics, this game’s visuals are top-notch, offering all of the qualities that a PS4 or Xbox One owner would expect in 2020. Plus changes were made to some of the characters’ original attires, including Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveria. Additionally, Capcom is adding new areas to Raccoon City to explore.
To sum it all up, the game looks to be ideal for players who are long time fans of the original installment and want some nostalgia mixed in with new twists and turns. Though that may sound like the typical description of just about 99 percent of video game remakes, the crew at Capcom aren’t looking to ride off the wave of the original game. They went all out to make this one unique. In this case, that makes all the difference.
The Resident Evil 3 remake is scheduled to be released on the Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 on April 3, 2020. Although its success isn’t guaranteed, Capcom started off the year in a big way with the critically acclaimed remake of Resident Evil 2. It wouldn’t be crazy to assume the updated RE3 will be a major success as well.
