Resident Evil 3 remake demo confirmed by Capcom
Resident Evil 3 remake will be getting a demo (probably ahead of its launch) but when can we expect it and what will it offer?
Capcom has announced that a demo for the upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake will be offered, presumably ahead of the game’s launch in April. Capcom only announced plans for the demo, but did not offer any specific details, electing to share more information “in the near future.”
A demo for the Resident Evil 2 remake was also offered prior to its release, so this one doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. In fact, while Capcom has not offered any details, it’s not a bad idea to look back at the previous one for any clues as to what we can expect.

For Resident Evil 2, we received a “1-Shot Demo,” which was a limited demo that gave players 30 minutes to complete. If the specific mission objective was completed, players could continue to replay the demo until the 30-minute limit was reached. The demo also included a cinematic trailer that was exclusive to the trial. It’s not unreasonable to expect something similar to the Resident Evil 3 remake.
One key difference between the Resident Evil 2 remake and the Resident Evil 3 remake is that the latter will come with an “asymmetrical 4 vs 1 multiplayer game,” called Resident Evil Resistance. It’s possible that the demo could include a demo for this mode as well. I can’t imagine the entire mode will be available, but I can see one or two of the “Mastermind” characters being playable while others try and survive.
As for when we can expect the demo for the Resident Evil 3 remake, the one for Resident Evil 2 was made available about two weeks prior to the game’s launch. Resident Evil 2 remake released on January 25 and the demo ran from January 11-31. With Resident Evil 3 remake releasing on April 3, I think a safe guess for the demo to arrive would be about two weeks prior, or sometime in mid-March.
The Resident Evil 3 remake will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. I imagine the demo will also be available for those same platforms.
