The Division 2: Warlords of New York Rogue agents revealed in new animated short
A new animated short for The Division 2: Warlords of New York provides a bit of backstory for the Rogue Agents you’ll be hunting in the expansion.
In less than a week, Division agents will return to the Big Apple with Tom Clancy’s The Division 2‘s next major expansion, Warlords of New York. Players will embark on a manhunt in Lower Manhattan, a former Dark Zone hit by a devasting hurricane, in search of Aaron Keener, a former Division Agent who has now gone rogue.
As previously detailed, Keener will be protected and guarded by other Rogue Agents, each with their own powerful skills and unique backstory. While you’ll learn more about each of these Rogue Agents as you play through the expansion, Ubisoft has released an animated short providing a bit of a teaser to the story behind Keener and why these agents have decided to join him. Ubisoft also provided a more in-depth synopsis for the plot of Warlords of New York.
"“While The Division was answering the distress call in Washington, D.C., Aaron Keener, a former Division Agent turned Rogue, has taken control of Lower Manhattan and is manipulating the factions of New York with the help of dangerous Rogue Agents. As society rebuilds on the ashes of the Black Friday outbreak, in Keener’s eyes, so do the binds of authority that burden it. Armed with a new strain of the virus that crippled the world, Keener intends to unshackle society from the establishment.”"
Warlords of New York is shaping up to be an incredible expansion for a game that has already received three free episodes of content in its first year. I absolutely love that they released this animation as it portrays Keener and the Agents as characters will real motivations and reasons for doing what they do.

As for the animation, man, I would love for them to create some sort of series for The Division 2 to continue telling side stories. With television adaptations of popular video games gaining traction on services like Netflix, I could easily see something like a Division 2 cartoon taking off in popularity. At the very least, I hope they continue to support The Division 2 with additional animated shorts in the future.
As for the Rogue Agents, you’ll be hunting, it seems there will be four of them: Vivian Conley, a chemical engineer aligned with the Cleaners; Theo Parnell, a former drone engineer and hacker; Javier Kajika, a former Black Ops looking for revenge; and James Dragon, a heavy weapons master leading the Rikers faction. Successfully stopping each of these Rogue Agents will not only get you one step closer to locating Aaron Keener, but you’ll also receive a special ability. Each character’s backstory provides somewhat of a clue as to what that ability will be related to.
The Division 2: Warlords of New York will release on March 3. If you’re interested in the upcoming expansion but haven’t yet played the base game, Ubisoft is giving you a chance to jump in and try it out with a free weekend that runs from February 27 to March 2.
