Ninja will be forever immortalized in Fortnite
Fortnite is adding a special Ninja skin, forever immortalizing the popular streamer, Tyler Blevins, in the battle royale game.
The symbiotic relationship between Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Epic Games’ Fortnite is one of the most fascinating stories in the gaming industry. Now, the popular streamer will be forever immortalized in the game that helped propel his career.
A professional competitive Halo 3 player, Blevins’ popularity as a streamer really took off when he began playing Epic Games’ battle royale game. The entertainment he provided to millions of viewers while playing Fortnite on Twitch, in turn, helped feed into the game’s popularity.
Celebrating all he has contributed to the Fortnite culture, Epic Games will be adding a set of cosmetics dedicated to Ninja’s artistic flair and unique personality. Starting on January 16, 2020, at 7:00 pm ET, players will be able to purchase the Ninja Outfit, Ninja’s Edge Back Bling, Ninja Style Emote and Dual Katanas Pickaxe from the in-game item shop.
This collaboration is part of Fortnite‘s Icon Series, which seems to be a collaboration between Epic Games and many of the celebrities who have helped make the game so popular. As Epic explains:

"Gaming, music, film, and fashion collide in Fortnite in the Icon Series. The Icon Series brings the artistic vision, personality, and attitude of top creators to Fortnite, building on previous collaborations with Marshmello and Major Lazer."
The Ninja Outfit features Ninja’s signature blue hair while donning a bandana. The pickaxe is appropriately designed to look like Dual Katanas, playing off his nickname. You can see the ensemble in action here.
Regardless of how you feel about Tyler Blevins as a person or even a streamer, there’s no denying his impact on not only Fortnite but gaming in general. He has helped legitimize streaming and competitive gaming as a career — a lucrative one at that. He’s been instrumental in the growth of competitive gaming and eSports and it’s awesome to see him forever immortalized in one of the biggest games in the industry.
In addition to Ninja, it sounds like Epic Games has plans to expand upon this Icon Series. The developer briefly mentioned future collaborations with Loserfruit, TheGrefg and other creators from games, music and entertainment. Who would you like to see celebrated in Fortnite?
