Marvel Super War — the upcoming mobile MOBA from NetEase — finally has a release date for certain countries. Fans also unlocked the Level 5 rewards in the pre-register event, with the latest reward being a hero… Hawkeye!

The official launch for NetEase’s new MOBA featuring Marvel characters has been announced. Marvel Super War announced on their social media pages that the game will officially be released on December 19. That said, there seems to be some confusion over which countries this is for. Pre-register isn’t available on iOS or Android in the United States. The same holds true for Europe.

The game has held multiple betas in the countries of India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. One would assume that it’s launching just in these countries with a global launch soon after since you still can’t pre-register worldwide. That said, the announcement reads like it’s going to be everywhere.

In some less confusing news, players have unlocked the Level 5 rewards in Marvel Super War’s pre-register event. The latest reward is the hero, Hawkeye. In total, all players will receive the following items after the game’s official launch:

  • 68 Crystals
  • Avatar Frame X 1
  • Dark Star X 1
  • Skin: The Thing
  • Hero: Hawkeye

Marvel Super War is your typical MOBA game that you’re probably already used to. It features three lanes with towers and a base to destroy while pitting heroes and villains against one another in 5v5 action. Heroes will have multiple multiple abilities to utilize alongside auto attacks, as well as having a Hero Trait. The main arena you’ll play in is set in Wakanda, which is Black Panther’s kingdom.

There is a large roster of characters available to play outside of the rewarded Hawkeye (and a large stable of more to add in the future). Playable characters include favorites such as Black Panther, Black Widow, Hulk, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Storm, Groot, Captain Marvel, Loki, Angel, Deadpool, Magneto, Lady Sif and more.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens to other popular mobile MOBA games like Vainglory, Arena of Valor and Mobile Legends once Marvel Super War arrives. Marvel is a huge draw for many, and it’s likely to pull players away from those other games. However, this isn’t the first popular IP to be put into a MOBA. Lord of the Rings had a console MOBA at one point and that didn’t last long. Also, Arena of Valor features some DC characters in its game, such as Joker, Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman.

I would argue that none of those games has the same draw as Marvel characters in a MOBA arena. I guess we will find out come December 19. In the meantime, you can get your mobile Marvel fix with games like Marvel Strike Force.
