Becky “The Man” Lynch and Roman Reigns will both appear on the cover of WWE 2K20 and will serve as ambassadors of this year’s marketing campaign.

As promised 2K lifted the curtain on WWE 2K20 today, revealing the cover stars and briefly detailing some of the game’s modes.

Fan-favorite superstars Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns will both grace the cover of this year’s game. Both are incredibly popular and deserving of the honor.

Lynch rose to prominence in late 2018 and has since become one of the key faces of WWE. Her brazen personality – dubbing herself “The Man” – has been a hit with fans, leading to her increased popularity and support.

Her rivalry with Charlotte Flair and former UFC champion Ronda Rousey was one of the WWE’s most intriguing storylines leading up to WrestleMania 35 and it resulted in WrestleMania’s first ever female headliner: a triple-threat, Winner Takes All match for the Raw Women’s Championship and SmackDown Women’s Championship. Lynch won the match, making her a double champion and the first woman to hold both titles simultaneously. She has since lost the SmackDown title and has become a member of the Raw brand where she is currently the Women’s champion.

Roman Reigns has long been the WWE’s frontman, but in late 2018 he announced that his leukemia had returned after being in remission for 11 years. In February 2019, he returned to Raw, announcing that his leukemia had once again gone into remission. Reigns has since become the focal point of multiple featured storylines.

Both wrestlers have had to overcome a ton of obstacles in their career to reach their current superstar status and the hard work has paid off. As WWE 2K20‘s cover stars, both Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns will serve as ambassador’s for the game’s worldwide marketing campaign.

In addition to revealing the cover stars, 2K also shared some brief details about WWE 2K20‘s game modes, including the “story-drive, objective-based” 2K Showcase: The Women’s Evolution.

"The story-driven, objective-based 2K Showcase: The Women’s Evolution will follow the careers of the Four Horsewomen – Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley, Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks."

Honestly, this is one of the only storylines worth following in the WWE right now. The drama and excitement surrounding Lynch, Bayley, Flair and Banks have kept the WWE interesting amidst a sea of lackluster storylines.

WWE 2K20 will also feature MyCAREER and Mixed Tag matches, along with the return of WWE Towers.  The popular mode debuted last year; this year, it will include a story-driven Tower “centered around the career of Roman Reigns.”

Despite much more still to be revealed, 2K wasted no time introducing its new service mode, WWE 2K20 Originals. This is basically add-on content that’ll be released beyond the game’s launch. 2K teases “a new playable world and its own unique theme, with more details to be announced in the coming months.” WWE 2K20 Originals essentially sounds like a season pass, while almost certainly will require an additional purchase. However, those who pre-order WWE 2K20 will receive access to the first Originals package when it launches.

Speaking of pre-orders, WWE 2K20 will have both a Deluxe Edition and Collector’s Edition, each featuring in-game bonuses and additional superstars, including Chyna, Hulk Hogan, Mankind and The Rock. It’s disappointing that these iconic superstars aren’t simply included in the base game, but I can’t say that I’m at all surprised with the nickel-and-diming these days.

WWE 2K20 is set for worldwide release on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
