EA has begun to drip-feed us player ratings for Madden NFL 20, starting with the first member of the 99 Club: Aaron Donald.

Following the initial batch of rookie ratings, EA made us a wait a few weeks before we get to the rest of the rosters. Today was supposed to mark the unveiling of the “Madden 99 Club,” the group of players who don the maximum possible rating (99) in the game. Well, it seems EA is keen on milking this entire reveal process.

Rather than reveal all of the players who will sport a 99 Overall rating at the launch of Madden NFL 20, EA chose only to announce one of them: Aaron Donald.

Once again, the Los Angeles Rams defensive superstar will be among the best in the game. And it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise; the perfect rating is certainly warranted as Donald has been an absolute beast in his career.

A member of Madden‘s 99 Club last year, Donald, 28, put together the best season of his young career. In 16 games played, Donald racked up 20.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. In his five years of NFL service, he has a total of 59.5 sacks, so it’s not like last season was a fluke. He has consistently dominated the defensive line and terrorized opposing quarterbacks.

In Madden NFL 20, Donald will be rated the best in three categories: Strength (99), Power Moves (99) and Pursuit (98). He’ll also have 97 Block Shedding and 96 Finesse Moves, both the second-best in the game.

Donald, as with the rest of the 99 Club members in Madden NFL 20, will also be a Superstar X-Factor. New this year, this categorization – reserved for only 50 players in the game – is designed to make the top tier talent actually feel like a game-changing superstar.

In addition to the special X-Factor abilities, Donald will boast the Fearmonger Zone ability. When activated (by achieving an in-game objective), Donald will be able “to apply pressure on opposing QBs while engaged with blockers.”

Keep in mind, ratings in Madden are fluid and can change on a weekly basis. For established veterans it typically takes more than a single down week for a player’s overall to be greatly impacted. So unless Aaron Donald has a uncharacteristically quiet season, he’ll likely be wreaking havoc in Madden NFL 20 all year.

Aaron Donald is the first member of Madden NFL 20‘s 99 Club with others to be announced all week. In the meantime, let us know who else you think will have a perfect 99 rating at the launch of the game.
