As promised, The Division 2 players on PC are now able to hop into the PTS and experience some of the new content coming with Episode 1 in Title Update 5.

The Division 2 Title Update 5 is now available on the Public Testing Server (PTS) for PC, allowing players a chance to test out some of the new content coming with Episode 1: D.C. Outskirts.

As Ubisoft previously explained, they are doing something a little different with Title Update 5, unlocking and locking the various content from Episode 1 on a set schedule. This will allow them to better identify the source of a bug should one arise. The planned schedule sees the PTS run through July 10.

Kicking things off today are two new missions, with the first location of an Expedition site opening up on July 5. A second and third location will become available on July 6 and July 7, respectively, completing the full site. On July 8, Ubisoft will implement a number of gameplay changes that focus on gear balancing and skill build viability.

Expeditions were previously talked about at E3 when Ubisoft provided a brief rundown of Episode 1. These events are designed to guide you towards new, unexplored locations around Washington D.C. where you can discover “new narrative and gameplay opportunities.” Expeditions will offer “unique challenges and lore not found anywhere else: new collectibles, treasure rooms, environmental puzzles, unique boss mechanics, and more,” Ubisoft teased.

As further detailed by Ubisoft, an Expedition site consists of three locations, each with a specific theme and tone. These locations unlock one after another and completing all three will provide exclusive treasure and rewards. At least one Expedition will be test this week and can be unlocked by speaking to the Helicopter Pilot outside of the Base of Operations.

The Mastery System is an optional difficulty associated with Expeditions to provide a greater challenge and better rewards. Upon completing the Expedition a first time, you are able to replay challenges and are scored in Bronze, Silver or Gold ratings depending on how you perform (as an individual, not as a group). The higher the rating, the better the rewards.

Also available are two new missions: Manning National Zoo and Camp White Oak. The Manning National Zoo tasks you with eliminating Emeline Shaw, the leader of the Outcasts, who has barricaded herself in the zoo. Camp White Oak takes you to the woodlands outside of D.C. to take out a group of Black Tusks and their leader.

In addition to the new content in Episode 1: D.C. Outskirts, Title Update 5 will bring plenty of gameplay changes – some of which are able to be experienced on the PTS. From weapon and balance changes to gameplay mechanic and skill overhauls, the current patch notes for Title Update 5 can be found in full here.

It’s worth noting that these changes are in testing and could change by the time Title Update 5 releases for The Division 2. It should also be pointed out that the PTS is a completely separate client from the actual game and exists entirely on its own; any progress you make on the PTS does not carry over into the game once the content goes live on the real servers.

Ubisoft doesn’t yet have a firm release date for Title Update 5 or Episode 1: D.C. Outskirts, but the current testing schedule is slated to end on July 10. Assuming everything works as intended, it’s possible Title Update 5 could be released later this month.
