Xbox Games with Gold May 2019: Golf Club 2019, Marooners and more

As we prepare to turn the calendar page on April, Microsoft has announced May 2019’s free Games with Gold for Xbox One and Xbox 360. Next month’s lineup features four games — Marooners, The Golf Club 2019, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon and Comic Jumper — that total $94.96 in value and 3,200 gamerscore.
It’s not the flashiest lineup of free games, but The Golf Club 2019 is actually quite the gem, especially for fans of the sport. The success to The Golf Club 2, 2K Sports and HB Studios’ The Golf Club 2019 makes some tremendous strides with the addition of the PGA Tour license, the inclusion of real-world brands and improvements to already realistic mechanics.

Admittedly, I’m not entirely familiar with the remaining three games in May’s Games with Gold lineup. Marooners seems like a mindless party game with support for up to six players in local or online co-op. Marooners offers 25 different mini-games that can switch at any given time.
Comic Jumper is another game I never played on Xbox 360; but, does come from Twisted Pixel Games, and I was a huge fan of the developer’s 2.5D action platformer ‘Splosion Man (and its sequel, Ms. Splosion Man). Given the developer’s track record and the hype from Avengers: Endgame, Comic Jumper seems like a fantastic inclusion in May’s lineup.

As the title suggests, Comic Jumper throws you into the pages of comic books from all different genres as you take on the role of Captain Smiley, who seeks to improve his own poorly selling title.
The final game for May is Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, a third-person shooter that’s actually a spin-off from the mainline series.
Marooners will be available on Xbox One for the entirety of May, while The Golf Club 2 Featuring PGA Tour will be available from May 16 to June 15 on Xbox One. Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon will be available until May 15, at which point Comic Jumper will be free for the remainder of the month. Both titles will be available on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
On a related note, next month also marks the release of the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, an all-digital disc-less variation of the Xbox console. It will be available on May 7 for $250.
