The Division 2: How to find the Pestilence Exotic LMG
The latest update for The Division 2 added the Pestilence Exotic LMG. Here’s a quick guide for where and how to farm for it.
Last week’s Invasion: Battle for D.C. update introduced a slew of new content to Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, including the Tidal Basin stronghold, World Tier 5, three new Gear Sets and two exotic weapons.
One of the two new exotic weapons is the Pestilence LMG, an Outcast weapon that packs quite the punch and reduces enemy healing.
Where to find the Pestilence Exotic LMG
The Pestilence Exotic LMG is found exclusively in the Dark Zone. Reports of exactly how to farm this weapon differ from player to player; however, the one unifying thing is that it always dropped from the Dark Zone.
The Pestilence LMG doesn’t seem to be tied to any specific named boss or objective, and it seems to drop from both versions of the Dark Zone (Normalized and Occupied). Mine dropped from completing a random landmark boss in the normalized Dark Zone; however, other players on the game’s subreddit claim to have found theirs in the Occupied Dark Zone.
The Pestilence also doesn’t seem to be tied to any particular faction. Mine dropped from the Black Tusk, while other players have reported theirs dropped from a Hyena boss as well as the True Sons.
Of course, there is a bit of luck factor involved, so hopefully, you are in good graces with the RNG Gods.
The Pestilence LMG being exclusive to the Dark Zone actually makes quite a bit of sense when you look at its stats and talents, which seem to heavily emphasize PvP.
The Pestilence comes with the “Plague of the Outcasts” talent, which inflicts Plague of the Outcasts on an enemy that is hit 20 times.

“When an enemy with Plague of the Outcasts is killed, they leave a toxic cloud for 10 seconds that deals 200% weapon damage per second to anyone inside and inflicts them with Pestilence,” the description reads.
Pestilence is a debuff that reduces healing received by 50% for 10 seconds. It also immediately kills an enemy inflicted with Pestilence, rather than downing them. While these stats are probably useful in World Tier 5, there’s no doubt they are geared towards PvP. The debuff could prove tremendously useful in preventing a player from healing mid-fight.
In addition to these two debuffs, the Pestilence also comes with “Outcast Resilience,” which provides 20% bonus armor for five seconds whenever you are affected by blind, bleed, or burning while the weapon is holstered. Again, this is a great defensive talent in PvP as players will probably have equipped high-end gear that could inflict these on you.

To recap, the Pestilence Exotic LMG is primarily a PvP-centric weapon. As such, you can farm for it exclusively in the Dark Zone. You’ll need some luck, but it appears the drop rate is pretty generous.
