The countdown to Kingdom Hearts 3’s release begins with new clip of Monsters, Inc. world
With less than one week to go until the launch of Kingdom Hearts 3, the game’s social media channels are fueling hype train that’s already been in motion for over six years.
It’s hard to believe that in just a few days Kingdom Hearts 3, the highly anticipated, supposed final chapter to the incredible Dark Seeker saga.
In anticipation of the game’s launch, now less than one week away, the official Kingdom Hearts social media channels have been quite busy building hype. As if six year’s of waiting wasn’t enough to get fans stirring with anticipation.
First up, we have a fresh look at the new Monsters, Inc. world. Monstropolis will be making its first appearance in the Kingdom Hearts series and it looks like you’ll be fighting alongside Mike and Sulley. There’s a pretty awesome moment that teases Sora riding on the iconic door line.
Monsters, Inc. is just one of several new worlds based on Disney franchises to be featured in Kingdom Hearts 3. Also new to the series will be the Toy Box from Toy Story, San Fransokyo from Big Hero Six, the Kingdom of Corona from Tangled and Arendelle from Frozen.
Of course, fan-favorite worlds from previous games like The Caribbean from Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End, Twilight Town, Destiny Islands and Disney Castle are also returning; although, they’ve likely been completely redesigned to take full advantage of the Xbox One and PS4.

The Kingdom Hearts channel also released a Hercules teaser, showcasing Olympus, but for some reason, they seemed to have removed it. In any case, it was just a short clip that featured Sora, Donald and Goofy tearing up Mount Olympus, which has been featured in each and every Kingdom Hearts game. On the bright side, we’ve already been treated to a trailer that featured a pretty lengthy look at Olympus, which you can see here.
In addition to teasing these fun, new locations, the Kingdom Hearts Twitter also shared last week that you’ll be able to use Sora’s Gummiphone to snap in-game photos. The teasers only showcase selfies, but it would be amazing if you can also use it to capture some of the in-game action as it unfolds.
Speaking of the Gummiphone, you’ll be able to use it in Kingdom Hearts 3 to actually play the Classic Kingdom mini-games. Shown off earlier this year, Classic Kingdom features games reminiscent of the classic Game & Watch LCD games from Nintendo; titles include The Barnyard Battle, The Karnival Kid, Giantland and Musical Farmer.
Yes, there is plenty to be excited about. Thankfully, the wait is almost over. Kingdom Hearts 3 will release on January 29, 2019, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
