A very important aspect to being a Pokémon Trainer is taking care of your Pokémon following a Gym Battle or Raid Battle.  We have the information on the Items that will help you take care of the health of your Pokémon.

Whether your Pokémon are fainted following defending a Gym or weakened following a Gym Battle, it is always important to keep some Items around to heal your Pokémon when they need it.

There are a variety of Items that help temporarily heal Pokémon or fully heal Pokémon.  There are also Items that help revive part of the health or all of the health of a Pokémon.  The following Items will help you take care of the Pokémon you keep in your storage space:

Basic Potion

A Basic Potion restores the HP of a Pokémon by 20 points.  It can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Completing a Raid Battle
  • Completing Field Research tasks
  • Leveling-up reward
  • Spinning a PokéStop or Gym

Super Potion

A Super Potion restores the HP of a Pokémon by 50 points.  It can be obtained in the following ways:

Max Revive

A Max Revive restores the entire HP of a Pokémon when the Pokémon is fainted.  This item provides a large benefit over the Revive as additional Potions do not need to be paired with it.  It can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Completing a Raid Battle
  • Completing Field Research tasks
  • Leveling-up reward
  • Opening Gifts from friends
  • Purchasing from the Shop

As Trainers, we all want to complete our Pokédex.  There are Items that help speed up this process!  With these items, a Trainer does not have to rely on coming across every single Pokémon in the wild.

Between Incubators, Incense, and Lure Modules there are many helpful Items to place in your bag that will help you add new Pokémon to your Pokédex.  We have the details on all of the available Items that will help your “seen” and “caught” numbers increase!

Infinite Egg Incubator

An Infinite Egg Incubator is device that incubates an Egg as you walk.  Eggs require a Trainer to walk either 10.0 km, 7.0 km, 5.0 km, or 2.0 km.  After the required distance, the Egg will hatch and give the Trainer a random Pokémon!  An Infinite Egg Incubator is provided to every Trainer at the start of the game.

Egg Incubator

An Egg Incubator does everything the same as the Infinite Incubator.  However, it is only available for three Egg hatches before it is no longer available to use.  An Egg Incubator can be obtained in the following ways:

Super Incubator

A Super Incubator is more powerful than the Egg Incubator.  Although it is also unavailable to use following three uses, it hatches Eggs much more quickly than the Egg Incubator.  The Eggs hatch at a multiplier of 0.6666666667 in a Super Incubator.  For example, if an Egg normally requires a 10.0 km walk to hatch, the Super Incubator will bring the required km down to 6.7 km.  The Super Incubator can be obtained in the following way:

  • Purchasing from the Shop

Lure Module

A Lure Module attracts wild Pokémon to a PokéStop for 30 minutes.  There is an added Pokémon every 5 minutes during the 30 minute timeframe that would not normally appear without the Lure Module.  Lure Modules can be obtained in the following ways:

Incense

An Incense attracts wild Pokémon wherever you are using an aromatic scent for 30 minutes.  It is most effective if a Trainer walks while using it as Pokémon appear more frequently as a Trainer reaches certain distances.  When a Pokémon appears from an Incense, it will have a pink glow around it.  Incense can be obtained in the following ways:

Rare Candy

A Rare Candy helps a Trainer evolve a Pokémon more quickly.  This is due to the ability to turn this Item into a Candy for any Pokémon species.  This valuable Item can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Completing a Raid Battle
  • Completing Field Research tasks

The Incubators, Lure Modules, and Incense are sometimes also available as part of a Special Box in the Shop.  Incubators are also sometimes provided through PokéStops during special events.  There is currently not a way to acquire a second Infinite Egg Incubator.  There are also some special events that will decrease the amount of km required to hatch an Egg.

Although Incubators, Incense, and Lure Modules help fill up the Pokédex, there are also many other Items available for a Trainer to use.

From Raid Passes to Evolution Items, there are even more Items for a Trainer to store in the bag that help boost your Pokédex numbers. These Items come from a variety of sources within the game and we have the information on them all.

Raid Pass

A Raid Pass allows you to enter one Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4, or Legendary Raid battle at a Gym.  It can only be obtained once per day in the first PokéStop spin of the day by a Trainer from a Gym Photo Disc.  Raid Passes are not stackable, so only one can be held at a time.

Once a Raid Pass is used, a Trainer enters the Raid Lobby to either battle solo or battle with a group.  Upon successfully defeating the Raid Boss, a Trainer has an opportunity to catch the Pokémon that was defeated.

This allows a Trainer to fill up his/her Pokédex with a variety of already evolved Pokémon or Raid-Exclusive Pokémon the Trainer may not already have in his/her ‘dex.

Premium Raid Pass

A Premium Raid Pass functions the same way as a Raid Pass.  Unlike the Raid Pass, the Premium Raid Pass is a stackable Item, so a Trainer can carry around as many passes as their bag space allows.  A Premium Raid Pass can be obtained in the following ways:

EX Raid Pass

An EX Raid Pass is an exclusive Raid invitation from Niantic, the makers of Pokémon GO.  A Trainer is provided an EX Raid Pass if they have recently (and successfully) completed a Raid Battle at a Gym that is chosen for the battle by Niantic.  Current EX Raid Passes seem to have the best chance to be provided following the completion of a Raid Battle at Sponsored Gyms and Gyms in parks.

When a Trainer receives the invitation, it appears in an envelope animation upon opening the Pokémon GO application.  It will let the Trainer know the time of the Raid and the location of where it will take place.  This is a free Item provided to Trainers and it disappears if it is not used at the specified time on the invitation.  The special EX Raid Pokémon is a great addition to the Pokédex!

Evolution Items

Evolution Items are required to evolve certain Pokémon.  Without the Evolution Items, a Pokédex entry will be difficult to obtain for these Pokémon.  The current Evolution Items are the Dragon Scale, the Kings Rock, the Sun Stone, the Metal Coat, and the Upgrade.

A Dragon Scale is used to evolve the Pokémon Seadra into Kingdra.  A Trainer needs 100 Horsea Candy along with the Item in order to evolve Seadra.

A Kings Rock is used to evolve Slowpoke into Slowking or Poliwhirl into Politoed.  A Trainer needs 50 Slowpoke Candy along with the Item to obtain a Slowking.  A Trainer also needs 100 Poliwag Candy along with the Item to obtain a Politoed.

A Sun Stone is used to evolve Gloom into Bellossum or Sunkern into Sunflora.  A Trainer needs 100 Oddish Candy along with the Item to obtain Bellossum.  A Trainer also needs 50 Sunkern Candy along with the Item to obtain a Sunflora.

A Metal Coat is used to evolve Onix into Steelix or Scyther into Scizor.  A Trainer needs 50 Onix Candy along with the Item to obtain Steelix.  A Trainer also needs 50 Scyther Candy along with the Item to obtain Scizor.

An Upgrade is used to evolve Porygon into Porygon2.  A Trainer need 50 Porygon Candy along with the Item to obtain Porygon2.

These Items are obtained randomly from PokéStops.  However, on the 7-Day-Streak Spin, a random Evolution Item is guaranteed to be received.

The Premium Raid Passes are sometimes available in Special Boxes in the Shop that allow a Trainer to obtain them at a discounted cost alongside other Items.

Another aspect to being the best Pokémon Trainer you can be is increasing your amount of Stardust and XP.  We have the information on the Items that will help you boost the amount of each.

Stardust is a very valuable resource and it is great that there is finally an item that helps boost the amount of Stardust Trainers can receive.  Alongside increasing Stardust, it is also great each time XP can be boosted.  The following provides information on both of those Items as well as information on addition Items that help improve the experience as a Trainer!

Star Piece

A Star Piece provides a Trainer with 50% more Stardust for 30 minutes while it is in use.  This applies to Pokémon captures, Egg hatches, Raid rewards, etc.  A Star Piece can be obtained in the following way:

  • Purchasing from the Shop

Lucky Egg

A Lucky Egg provides a Trainer with a double XP bonus for 30 minutes while it is in use.  This applies to Pokémon captures, evolves, Raid rewards, etc.  A Lucky Egg can be obtained in the following ways:

Gift

More from App Trigger

A Gift is an item that you can send to a friend once per day to provide them with helpful Items.  Ten Gifts can be held at one time regardless of the amount of Bag space available.  After sending the Gift to a friend, they have to open it before another one can be sent as the Gifts cannot be stacked by a Trainer on the receiving end.

A Gift contains a random assortment of Items such as a Pinap Berry, Poké Balls, Great Balls, Ultra Balls, Max Potions, and Max Revives.  It can also provide a Trainer with Stardust.  The Stardust amount will be based on the length of distance between Friendly Trainers.  A Gift can be obtained in the following way:

  • Spinning a PokéStop or Gym

TMs

TMs allow a trainer to change either the fast attack move or the charge attack move of most Pokémon.  There are currently two TMs in the game, a Fast TM and a Charged TM Item.  TMs can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Completing a Raid Battle
  • Completing Field Research tasks

Camera

Similar to the Infinite Egg Incubator, the Camera is provided to a Trainer at the start of the game.  It allows a Trainer to take a photo of a Pokémon encounter.  The AR+ action provides a photo of the Pokémon as it is captured in the environment where the Trainer is currently located in the real world.

Next. Pokémon GO: New Shiny Pokémon available to all Trainers. dark

The Bag space currently maxes out at 2,000 Items.  The original amount of Bag space provided to a Trainer at the start of the game is 350.  Additional Bag space can be purchased in the Shop.  PokéCoins are needed to purchase Items.  50 PokéCoins can be obtained per day by defending a Gym for a certain timeframe and having a Pokémon returned.  Additional PokéCoins can be purchased in the Shop using real world money.

New Items are continuously added to Pokémon GO, so please check back with us as we will keep all Trainers updated on any new Items after they are added!
