MLB The Show 25 was released on March 14, 2025. If you are an Xbox Game Pass owner, you may have gone to the Games Library and searched for MLB's new game only to find empty search results. Xbox Game Pass owners usually know you are able to find MLB The Show on the service because it has been a recent tradition since MLB The Show 21 first made its way onto Xbox consoles. However, this tradition is now broken.
Will MLB The Show 25 ever be playable on Xbox Game Pass?
Baseball fans, unfortunately you read that correctly. Tradition has been stopped and MLB The Show 25 is currently not available on Xbox Game Pass. Fans of the baseball franchise were a little spoiled last year because MLB The Show 24 was available for free as part of being an Xbox Game Pass subscriber and on top of that, it was available on the first day of the game's release. That is not the case this year.
With the 2025 MLB Regular Season upon us, if you are looking to get that baseball video game itch, you are going to have to purchase the game at full price no matter what platform you decide to play the game on.
If you are someone who is hesitant to purchase MLB The Show 25 on Xbox because of the chance it might come to the service in the coming months, you can proceed forward without any fear. MLB The Show has been confirmed that it will not even be coming to Xbox Game Pass for the entirety of 2025. This news was confirmed by the MLB The Show 25 developers at the end of January 2025 as part of a PlayStation Blog where they have confirmed that "The game will not be on platform subscription services in 2025." Which means not only will it not come to Xbox Game Pass in 2025, but no subscription services at all.
This news might have been overlooked by a lot of people because the PlayStation Blog it was revealed in was mainly dedicated to the Cover Athlete stars, but this is the reality of the situation and now it is giving gamers a tough choice on where they want to play the game, if they want to purchase the game at all.
If there is a positive to take away from this news, it is the fact that coming to the Xbox Game Pass at any point in the future hasn't been totally ruled out. If there is any chance that MLB The Show 25 hits the Xbox Game Pass it would have to wait till 2026. By that time, the game would be well at the end of its lifespan and San Diego Studio would be gearing up for it's MLB The Show 26 release next March.
The moral of the story is that if you are an MLB The Show fan, you are going to have to spend at least a minimum of $70 on this year's version if you want to play the game. There is also a Deluxe Edition for $100 and a Collector's Editon for the most hardcore of fans that will cost more than $220. It is an interesting choice that will affect Xbox Gamers this year more than any other year simply because of the fact that there is no version coming to the Xbox Game Pass.
