Right alongside the likes of Sonic and Mario teaming up, one of the biggest console war WTFs was the 2021 announcement that MLB The Show would be available on Xbox Game Pass. For years, MLB The Show was one of the best exclusive reasons to buy a Sony console. With it being completely free on Xbox, that dynamic has flipped the past few years.

That may be the reason that MLB The Show 25 is not a day-one launch on Xbox Game Pass. Sorry, Microsoft faithful. Going even further, Sony announced that The Show will not be on subscription services in 2025. The game will still be available on Xbox, but you'll be ponying up a minimum of $70.

In 2021, there were reports that MLB itself was behind the push to get the game on Xbox. After all, baseball's biggest concern is selling itself to more fans. Whatever talks there may be behind the scenes, the old deal is done apparently.

The Show won't appear on PS4 on Xbox One either, but will be on the Nintendo Switch. I eagerly await the misshapen visages of players we'll see as The Show strains against the Switch's graphical restraints.

All that said, this does look a great year to get into The Show. High school and college baseball will feature in your created player's Road to The Show journey. There's a new roguelike board game called Diamond Quest that is earning rave reviews so far. And for Diamond Dynasty fans, seasons are no more. You can use your favorite cards however you'd like to all season long.
