If you have recently opened up your Pokémon GO app over the past few days, you should have noticed that the "Events" tab has a lot more rewards to offer. This is because Niantic has released their version of a Battle Pass called the "Tour Pass."
What is the Tour Pass?
The Tour Pass is Niantic's version of a Battle Pass. A Battle Pass is typically a ranking system that allows players to level up in exchange for rewards and other items. Battle Passes typically consist of a free and paid version. The same can be said about Pokémon GO's Tour Pass.
The Tour Pass consists of 500 levels. However, the first 100 levels offer rewards and Pokémon encounters. From levels 101-500 the only rewards available that you will receive are Stardust.
If you just want to collect the rewards from the Basic Tour Pass, then all you have to do is play the game like normal. If you want to get all the rewards and Pokémon encounters that the Deluxe Tour Pass offers, that is going to cost you $14.99 or $19.99 with 10 Rank Skips included.
What does the Deluxe Tour Pass have to offer?
If you decide to go down the Deluxe Tour Pass route, there are some nice benefits from it. You will encounter the Mythical Pokémon Victini, more encounters with Event Themed Pokémon, and Event Themed Avatar Item, and perhaps the most important item, one Lucky Trinket.
The Lucky Trinket is a very powerful item as it allows players to become lucky friends with any one of their choosing and they can use it at any time. This means if there is a special Pokémon you want to trade to get it lucky. You can only get this item if you purchase the Deluxe Tour Pass and reach level 100.
How to level up your Tour Pass fast?
There are a few different ways to level up your Tour Pass, but there is one way that is going to level up the Tour Pass quicker than the rest and that is by catching a Legendary Pokémon. It takes 50 points to level up one rank in the Tour Pass and catching one Legendary Pokémon will grant you 50 points itself. That means for every Legendary Pokémon you catch, you rank up one full rank. A very convenient and fast way to rank up if you find Legendary Pokemon Raids to take down.
The other ways you can get Rank Points is by catching a Pokémon (5 Points) and Hatching an Egg (10 Points). Both are much easier to do but also require a little more grinding.
If you are interested in taking part of the Tour Pass, it will only be available till March 2. The sooner you take part in the Event, the more rewards you will be able to receive and potentially get that Lucky Trinket!
