Like Lord Frieza spreading out to conquer planets, Dragon Ball's massive media empire is out to subjugate every possible game genre in existence. Next up is the free-to-play MOBA Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra. It's coming to iOS, Android, PC, PS5, and Nintendo Switch soon. It's offering a typical deal in which players will get Son Goku if more than three million players register. But while players on the other platforms can currently register, Ganbarion is telling Switch players the eShop page for the game will come at "a later date."
I was hoping with the Switch 2's launch, we wouldn't have another console generation of "Boy, Switch players are getting hosed" stories. But this is the second one I've had to do in the past few days, as the Switch 2 version of Madden 26 is having some growing pains. That's a case of a game pushing the console's hardware limitations. As a mobile game, Squadra certainly shouldn't be doing that, so I don't know exactly what's happening here.
While I joke about how DBZ is spamming its way into every genre, I play every single one of these games. This won't be any different, as I love MOBAs and this is one of the few places I didn't think Goku and friends would show up.
In addition to the adorable Son Goku, players can earn in-game Zeni, a Goku stamp, and G-capsule boosters. I didn't play in the game's network test that started in June, so I freely admit I have no idea what most of that is.
