Bringing Tekken 8 to the Switch would take "a lot of work," Harada says

In an interview with Eurogamer, Tekken 8 director Katsuhiro Harada didn't rule out porting the latest in the classic fighting series to the Nintendo Switch 2. But he admitted the task would not be an easy one.

"It's an interesting option, and not totally off the table. But it would require a lot of work on the game to get it running on that hardware," Harada said in an interview at Evo 2025.

Harada continued: "From a business standpoint, [the Switch 2] is doing quite well, so it would be a very good business decision if you're trying to get a bigger audience. But the amount of work that would have to be done on the game makes it not a very easy decision. At this point in time, there are no… (laughs) There is nothing to announce."

Street Fighter 6 has drawn rave reviews, although its World Tour mode does dip to 30 fps.

WWE 2K25's Switch 2 port has been a pleasant surprise as well. I've heard several players say they can't tell the difference between it and its PS5 and Xbox Series X counterparts. The publishers of Street Fighter 6, WWE 2K25, and Madden 26 all realized the Switch's install base was big enough to warrant releasing the games on it.

Harada's comments let us know that Bandai Namco may at least be thinking about it. They join NetEase Games, who is trying to figure how to get its popular hero shooter Marvel Rivals onto the Switch 2.
