Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree reveal at Game Awards rumors picks up steam
Fans eager to see the first expansion for Elden Ring may want to tune in to The Game Awards next month. Rumors that FromSoftware could finally reveal the highly anticipated expansion, Shadow of Erdtree, are picking up steam, despite no official confirmation from the developer.
Rumors of the planned reveal stem back to a simple X/Twitter post from Elden Ringer YouTuber Ziostorm. Citing “unverified sources,” Ziostorm claims that Shadow of the Erdtree will be shown at The Game Awards, and then release the following year on February 5, 2024.
Many were quick to dismiss his post as unverified hearsay, writing it off as nothing more than clickbait to get views. It’s certainly possible, but just a few weeks earlier , The Game Awards host and producer Geoff Keighley posted that he was visiting the offices of FromSoftware, noting their “well earned Game Awards statues.”
Keighley and FromSoftware have a pretty tight relationship, with Elden Ring winning GOTY last year. The developer has also The Game Awards as a platform to reveal their games, including last year’s Armored Core VI reveal. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Shadow of the Erdtree will be revealed at The Game Awards this year, but it’s not entirely outside the realm of possibility.
In December, it will have been nearly 10 months since FromSoftware officially announced the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. The developer recently provided an update on the status of the DLC, saying:
"“The release timing of DLC for Elden Ring has not yet been announced, but development is proceeding smoothly.”"
Perhaps we’ll get a more official update at The Game Awards next month?
Can you think of a more exciting announcement? The Game Awards will be streamed live on Thursday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Be sure to check back for all the exciting announcements and reveals!
