Rockstar Games has confirmed the trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 will arrive next month. The announcement comes after Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier had previously reported the developer’s plans to release the GTA 6 trailer in celebration of the studio’s 25th anniversary.

“We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you,” Rockstar said in its announcement.

Rockstar announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 was in “active development” in February 2022. They referred to it as the “next entry” in the series, but everyone just refers to it as GTA 6 anyway.

Rockstar hasn’t talked at all about the highly anticipated game, but there have certainly been countless rumors and leaks. Some of the rumors include a playable female character (which would be a first for the franchise) and the integration of all-new NPC technology. The trailer should finally give us insight into what to expect from what will surely be a blockbuster release.

Speaking of release, despite the trailer arriving in December, it’s quite possible we’ll be waiting even longer for the game’s official release. It was previously reported — not confirmed — that GTA 6 wouldn’t be released until 2025, which would be at least a year or two from now depending on the exact date.

In Take-Two’s recent earnings report, the publisher mentioned the release of a highly anticipated title that could potentially achieve unprecedented success sometime during the fiscal year 2025. This spans from April 2024 to March 2025, but I’m leaning more towards the 2025 date. I doubt any sort of trailer would offer a release date, but maybe we’ll get a vague launch window.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was released in September 2013 but remains popular to this day thanks to multiple re-releases on modern consoles. GTA 6 will likely see similar success and longevity.
