For as popular as Fortnite is these days, it’s safe to say it’s no longer the golden days of the battle royale. The game has evolved quite a bit since its heyday, but as with any game that gets older, with each new update is a bit of longing for the past.

For anyone who played Fortnite back in the early days of its launch — around 2017 and 2018 — the game is probably hardly recognizable to you anymore. There have been so many changes, the map has been updated countless times, there are in-game concerts, custom islands, new weapons and more.

It can all be somewhat overwhelming. And as a result, sometimes we just wish to go back to the simpler days.

Welcome Fortnite OG

The new update to Fortnite, dubbed Chapter 4 Season OG, does just that. It takes us back to 2018, specifically Chapter 1 Season 5. For those who were late to the game, this is the season “where worlds collided.” I would say this was the true changing point for Fortnite, so for newer or younger players to re-experience this moment is really cool. And it gives veterans or those who no longer play the game, a chance to jump back in and relive the glory days of the battle royale shooter.

Fortnite OG will travel back in time Season by Season with each new update introducing a different phase of the battle royale’s past. From chaotic but beloved Points of Interest like Tilted Towers to fan-favorite weapons like the Assault Rifle and Pump Shotgun. With each update, new gear and POIs will be reintroduced into the game,. Some of the unvaulted gear will remain in the game only for that update, stay for more the one update or remain for the entirety of Fortnite OG.

Check out the video below for a quick look at what to expect from Fortnite OG, which is live as of today.

With the new season comes the OG Pass, which offers more than 50 types of in-game rewards. The OG Pass costs 950 V-Bucks, but also includes 1,000 V-Bucks if you progress far enough. The OG Pass is also included as part of the Fortnite Crew subscription.

The OG Pass is available to progress through until December 2, 2023, which is presumably when Fortnite OG will end as well.
