How to start Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is out now. Whether you’re a returning player or a new one, you can begin playing the latest DLC immediately. But how you access it will change depending on whether you plan on using an older save file or starting new.

Before you begin, first make sure that you own the base game for Cyberpunk 2077 and that you’ve updated to the most recent Update 2.0. It should be noted that Update 2.0 is only available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC which means you can only play the Phantom Liberty DLC on these platforms.

How to start Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty with an existing save

If you’re playing the Phantom Liberty DLC using an older save from Cyberpunk 2077, you must load a save file from after the “Transmission” main story quest, but also before the “point of no return.” If you’ve already completed the main story, load the save file named “PointOfNoReturn.”

Once you do that, wait for a call from Songbird. Then follow teh “Dog Eat Dog” quest to visit Dogtown.

If you’re playing an existing save but haven’t yet completed the “Transmission” quest, you’ll have to continue playing the main story until you complete it. This will activate the call from Songbird so that you can begin playing the latest expansion content.

The “Transmission” quest is in the second act of the game and takes place about midway through the story.

How to start Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty with a new save

If you want to start from scratch with a new V but want to experience the DLC immediately, then it’s even easier. Simply select “New Save” from the main menu then select “Skip ahead to Phantom Liberty.”

If you want to experience the full story before jumping to Dogtown, then select “Regular Star.” Again, you’ll need to play through to the Transmission quest in order to reach Dogtown.
