4. The Wii is the only way to play neglected Nintendo franchises
The older Wii models were backwards compatible letting gamers bring over their GameCube collection. I could spend endless articles on all the GameCube games that deserve a remake, but right now I can at least play them on my Wii. Eternal Darkness was a brilliant horror game that will never see the light of day on a Switch. Star Fox: Assault is the last Star Fox game to be a true sequel to the franchise. Lost Kingdoms II, Geist, and 4 unique WWE games will forever be locked on the aged hardware. For those who have the coin to spend and a working Wii, you will have access to that which is forever hidden (roms and emulators are cheating).
Retro collecting is an art and a scavenger hunt and I think the Wii is very fertile ground. Any yockel can raid a Switch for the latest Pikmin, Pokemon, and Zelda, but I think there is a far more rewarding treasure in Nintendo’s past.
