Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: How to use Korok seeds to upgrade inventory

Korok seeds have returned in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. With hundreds to find, you’ll want to get as many as you can in order to upgrade your items. Finding them allows you to upgrade your inventory slots to carry more shields, weapons and bows. Each of the three spots will require individual korok seeds every time you want an additional slot. Below, we take you through where to unlock this ability and how to start upgrading your ever-so-necessary inventory in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

First, you’ll want to head over to northwest of Lookout Landing and find Hestu. He’s an NPC that needs your help in the Hestu’s Concerns quest. He’ll be scared about some trees nearby him. When you get close, the trees will “come alive” and you’ll need to defeat them. They are very easy as you just need to run behind them and take them out with a few quick shots. An axe does the best job, but any weapon can do the trick.

Once you take out the trees, he’ll talk to you and tell you how you can use the Korok seeds. You’ll need one for the first upgrade in each spot, 2 for the second, 3 for the 3rd and so on. So, if you have three for example you can unlock the first spot in all 3, or the first two in one spot. After he does his silly little dance, he’ll tell you to find him all over the map to give him the seeds for upgrades.

This can be a bit of a pain, but there’s a real easy workaround for this fortunately. If you can’t find him, or simply don’t want to, just head over to the Central settlement near the royal hidden passage and he’ll be standing right there. Hand over all your seeds whenever you have enough and you’ll get the corresponding upgrade.
