Resident Evil 4 Remake: How to get the Handcannon

The Resident Evil 4 Remake has been off to a legendary start. The game is really a masterpiece in so many different ways. The story is great, the gameplay is smooth, and there is just so much content to dive into.

One unconscious goal that every Resident Evil gamer strives for is to make sure that you continuously get more powerful as the journey goes on. The more powerful weapons you acquire, the easier it will be to mow down enemies. One of the most iconic and powerful weapons in the Resident Evil franchise is the Handcannon. The Handcannon can also be unlocked in the Resident Evil 4 Remake.

How to unlock the Handcannon in the Resident Evil 4 Remake

For those unaware, the Handcannon is a magnum that really packs a punch in terms of handguns. It is also one of the best handguns you can acquire in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. Acquiring the Handcannon is not going to be any day at the beach. In fact, it is going to take you quite some time before you get your hands on this gem.

The first thing you are going to want to focus on is beat the game first. The Handcannon is not available throughout your first playthrough. It is impossible, for that matter, to receive this magnum om your very first playthrough of the game. So, if you haven’t gotten through your first playthrough, enjoy it, and worry about the Handcannon after you complete the game. The reason why you can’t unlock the Handcannon right away is because you have to have Professional Mode unlocked. Professional Mode will be unlocked upon the completion of the first playthrough.

Once you have finished with the Resident Evil 4 Remake once, start a fresh save file on Professional Mode. You will need to then complete Professional Mode with an A Rank to unlock the Handcannon. If that doesn’t seem hard enough, you will not be able to use any other Resident Evil 4 Bonus Weapons during your playthrough if you are looking to unlock the Handcannon.

In reality, that means you aren’t technically unlocking the Handcannon until the end of your second playthrough and you can use it during your third playthrough. Once you have completed the above requirements, the Handcannon can be purchased for 1,000 CP in the Bonus Content section of the shop.

The Handcannon is arguably one of the best weapons in the entire Resident Evil 4 Remake. To make it even stronger, it can be upgraded just like any other weapon. It definitely doesn’t need to be upgraded, but the more upgrades, the stronger the weapon becomes. The stronger the Handcannon becomes, the smoother you can mow down some enemies.

You won’t be able to use the Handcannon until your third time through the Resident Evil 4 Remake, but if you plan on replaying the game over and over again, it will be well worth the wait. No one said getting the best weapons in the game was going to be easy or quick. Capcom makes you earn every last reward.
