When emerging from the mines and escaping the insects, you’ll find yourself in the Ballroom for Chapter 12 of Resident Evil 4 Remake. Here you’ll be presented with Requests: the tricky Jewel Thief request, and The Disgrace of the Salazar Family. For the latter Request, you’ll be shown a photograph along with a request to “Deface Ramon’s portrait.”

How to complete The Disgrace of the Salazar Family

As the picture shows, you can find the portrait of Ramon Salazar in the Throne Room. You can reach it through the Antechamber where you previously fought two Garrador at the same time. Ramon Salazar’s portrait can be found towards the rear of the room.

Now you’re simply tasked with defacing it, but you’ll notice that shooting it, stabbing it or throwing grenades don’t work. So how do you deface it?

It’s quite simple actually. You’ll notice a couple of hints in the room: chickens and a Gold Chicken Egg found in the treasure room. So here’s what you have to do. Wait patiently for one of the chickens to lay an egg, equip it and throw it at the portrait of Ramon Salazar. Follow the video below for a complete walkthrough of The Disgrace of the Salazar Family if you’re at all confused.

Although you can throw the Gold Chicken Egg, you might not want to as it’s worth 9K pesetas. It also provides a nice health refill, so it’s something you should probably hold on to.
