Cast

The cast of The Super Mario Bros. Movie was announced back in 2021, and to everyone’s surprise, there are a ton of A-List actors that will voice the characters in this movie.

  • Mario: Voice by Chris Pratt
  • Luigi: Voiced by Charlie Day
  • Princess Peach: Voice by Anya Taylor-Joy
  • Bowser: Voiced by Jack Black
  • Toad: Voiced by Keegan-Michael Key
  • Donkey Kong: Voiced by Seth Rogen
  • Cranky Kong: Voiced by Fred Armisen
  • Spike: Voiced by Sebastian Maniscalco
  • Kamek: Voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson
  • Penguin King: Voiced by Khary Payton

This movie has a star-studded lineup. There was a lot of controversy surrounding the casting of Chris Pratt as Mario. Some fans thought that an actor of Italian descent should be playing the role and that Pratt would be unable to give Mario an authentic showing on the big screens. Others just simply don’t like him. However, we know how talented Chris Pratt is as an actor and he is familiar with voicing other characters in movies such as Onward and The LEGO Movie.

The list of other actors and actresses is just as impressive. Anya Taylor-Joy’s voice is perfectly suited for Princess Peach, Charlie Day was Chris Pratt’s co-star in The LEGO Movie and will now play his brother Luigi in the Mario Bros. Movie, and it is great to see one of the funniest comedians in Sebastian Maniscalco voice Spike. Not to mention that Jack Black’s personality is a perfect fit to voice one of the most iconic villains in video game history, Bowser. We don’t know how well The Super Mario Bros. Movie will fare with audiences, but they definitely chose a great cast to try and do the best that they can.
