The Super Mario Bros. Movie release date, cast and everything we know

Now that the final trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been released; we have a much better idea of everything we need to know about the movie before its release date on April 5, 2023. Mario is not only one of the biggest franchises that Nintendo has created, but it is also one of the biggest video game franchises of all time. The franchise is set to grow even more on April 5, when the newest movie adaptation is set to hit the big screens.

Plot

When you think about Mario starring in his own movie, it might be hard to picture how the plot of the story would go at first. Mario was first created as part of a video game franchise, so starring in a movie might have seemed farfetched back in the day. If you really think about the evolution of Mario and the battles that Mario has had to overcome, you can actually devise a perfect story to build a movie around.

According to IMDB.com, the plot of the movie will be about “a Brooklyn plumber named Mario travels through the Mushroom Kingdom with a princess named Peach and an anthropomorphic mushroom named Toad to find Mario’s brother, Luigi, and to save the world from a ruthless fire-breathing Koopa named Bowser.”

From both of the trailers, we also saw a little bit of Mario’s job as a plumber. The video games never dove into his job as a plumber, but it appears that The Super Mario Bros. Movie is going to dive into his background story a little bit.

Similar to a majority of Mario storylines, Bowser is power-hungry and wants to take over the world. It will be up to Mario and his group of friends in the Mushroom Kingdom to prevent Bowser from obtaining a Super Star, which is the final thing he needs to take over the world. It also appears that from the other details caught in the trailer, Mario isn’t an expert on Mushroom Kingdom and was brought there so he can train with Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, and others to defeat Bowser.
