Hogwarts Legacy: How to increase Gear Inventory Storage
Hogwarts Legacy is a very large game and the number of items and gear that you are going to acquire on your journey is going to be insane, especially if you manage to reach max level 40. With all of the gear that you come across, you are going to need to find a way to increase your Gear Inventory Storage to hold more than the 20 Gear Slots that you get at the start of Hogwarts Legacy.
20 Gear Inventory Slots is simply just not going to cut it, especially when you get near the end of Hogwarts Legacy. Luckily, there is a way for you to increase your storage so that you can hold much more than 20 items.
Increasing Gear Inventory Slots will require the completion of Merlin Trials. There are a total of 95 Merlin Trials to be completed throughout the game which will obviously take quite a long time. Thankfully, you don’t have to complete them all to maximize your Gear Inventory.
Number of Merlin Trials you have to complete to max Inventory
- Solve 2 Merlin Trials to unlock an additional 4 Gear Inventory Slots
- Solve 6 additional Merlin Trials to unlock an additional 4 Gear Inventory Slots
- Solve 10 additional Merlin Trials to unlock an additional 4 Gear Inventory Slots
- Solve 14 additional Merlin Trials to unlock an additional 4 Gear Inventory Slots
- Solve 20 additional Merlin Trials to unlock an additional 4 Gear Inventory Slots
The first two Merlin Trials that you complete will net you an additional 4 Gear Inventory Slots. By continuing to complete Merlin Trials, you can have an additional 20 Gear Inventory Slots. The Merlin Trials do not stack and once you complete the first two Merlin Trials, you need to start over and complete an additional 6 Merlin Trials to unlock the next set of Inventory Slots. That means that you would need to complete 52 of the games 95 Merlin Trials to unlock full capacity, which is well worth it.
Having 40 Inventory Slots will do you a huge favor as you won’t have to constantly clear out your Inventory as frequently. Also, capturing and selling Beasts at the shops are one of the best ways to make Galleons. The more Gear Inventory that you have, the more Beasts can be held. Thus, netting you tons more Galleons every trip you make to the shop.
The extra space might also help you out with saving some Gear that you don’t necessarily want to get rid of. However, if you only have the 20 slots that you start with, you might find yourself getting rid of Gear that you don’t really want to give up just so you can free up your inventory.
If you can’t seem to find any Merlin Trials on the map, chances are you haven’t unlocked them in the game yet. In order for Merlin Trials to become available, you must first complete Main Quest 15 “Merlin Trials.” Once this Main Quest is completed, Merlin Trials will spawn all across the Wizarding World in Hogwarts Legacy.
You also need to remember that every time that you complete a Merlin Trial Milestone to unlock additional Gear Inventory Slots, you must claim them as a Reward. The increased Gear Inventory Slots aren’t just automatically added. It will be a relatively mild grind to complete 52 Merlin Trails, but well worth it in the long run. Flying Brooms will also allow you to travel to these Merlin Trials so it is easier to get to each Trial. Plus, when you get to your 52nd Merlin Trial, you are only 43 Merlin Trials away from collecting them all and getting the Achievement/Trophy “Merlin’s Beard!”
